Hornitos LA MAN-ZANA

Hornitos LA MAN-ZANA, tequila, lemon juice, beer, Mexican beer, Mexican lager, spiced honey tequila

**I was sent this sample of Hornitos Spiced Honey tequila without any payment.
All opinions in this post are 100% mine**

Spiced honey tequila.  Ever heard of it?  I sure hadn't until I was sent a bottle and a recipe to try it with.  What I haven't done yet (not quite sure why) is try it by itself.  I will have to do that.

When I get a recipe that mixes alcohol and beer together I usually get a little worried.  I LOVE beer.  I love a good cocktail too.  Mixing them together scares me.

I have made cocktails with beer before and some turned out really good like my Moon-a-rita and my Chavela.  Others.....not so much, like my Peachy Beer Cocktail.

This cocktail falls in between there somewhere.

It definitely was not my favorite.

To be honest, I would never order this cocktail at a bar....or make it again here.  I guess what I'm saying is that this cocktail falls closer to the Peachy Beer Cocktail then the others.

To make this cocktail you need to do it in two parts.

You pour in the tequila.

Next add the apple cider.

Then you add the lemon juice.

Shake and strain into an ice filled cocktail glass.

Finally you add the Mexican lager.

Sauza Minted Mule

Sauza Minted Mule, Sauza Signature Blue Silver Tequila, lime juice, ginger beer, Bundaberg, mint leaves, copper mug

**I was sent this sample of Sauza Signature Blue Silver Tequila without any payment.
All opinions in this post are 100% mine**

A few years ago I made a Moscow Mule.

I did not have a copper mug to make it in at that time.

Since then a friend of mine brought one over to make herself a cocktail....or two and left the mug here for future use (thanks Marisa).  Thanks to her, I was able to make this Sauza Minted Mule today!

The mix of these 4 simple ingredients together (tequila, lime juice, ginger beer and mint leaves) compliment each other so well.....and the copper mug!

WOW, it is keeping this cocktail super cold and adding to its super refreshing taste!

This last week has been one big emotional roller coaster, so I am very thankful for this refreshing cocktail right here, I must say!

Thanksgiving was good.

Quiet.

Smaller then usual......but good.

We had a small gathering of friends over the next day (not as big as we usually do.....which I think I needed).

On Saturday my husband started getting all of the outside Christmas lights out from storage and started getting them all programmed and ready to be put out on the house.

Sunday he put up the lights and I decorated the inside of the house.......which brings a very important discovery to my attention.

I NEED more Christmas decorations!!

I got this recipe from the fabulous people who sent me this sample of Sauza.  It's really an easy recipe.  First you pour into your empty copper cup the Sauza tequila.

Next the lime juice.

Followed by the ginger beer.

Stir it up and add ice.

Stir again and garnish with mint leaves.  See, it's simple!

I really like this cocktail.

A lot of you know that I've had a "bad experience" with tequila in my younger years.....but that was more in the form of doing Jose Cuervo (I shudder just thinking of it) shots.

Now that I'm older and wiser, I know that you need to buy (or at least I do) a better tequila when making mixed cocktails.  This cocktail is proof!

Two Turtle Doves

Day 288

Two Turtle Doves
3.5 shots out of 5

two turtle doves cocktail, christmas cocktail, vodka, coconut cream, half & half, white creme de cacao

Happy Thursday!

My husband just informed me that he was not aware that today was Thursday already.  Isn't that just the greatest feeling?  Thinking it's Tuesday........Wednesday at the latest and finding out that in fact it's not just Thursday, but Thursday night!

Score!

Since it is Thursday night, that brings us just about another week closer to Christmas......oh boy.

I gave tonight's cocktail 3.5 shots out of 5.

Right from the Christmas carol itself comes tonight's cocktail, Two Turtle Doves.....OK, so I really found tonight's cocktail at cocktailtimes.

This cocktail is pretty good.

Not a whole lot of wonderful flavor.......I'm assuming that is because of all of the half and half that is in this cocktail.

I think I would change the vodka to vanilla vodka instead of using regular vodka if I make this one again.  All in all, it's not a bad cocktail....just not a very memorable one either.

I must say that the grated white chocolate on the rim on this martini glass does add a very nice touch!

I found this package of it at my local grocery store, and when I opened it up (thinking it was a big old hunk of chocolate I'd have to break up myself), I was VERY pleasantly surprised to see rectangles of white chocolate all separated in little plastic cup things (kind of looked like an ice cube tray).

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is the recipe for Two Turtle Doves:

  • 1 1/2 oz vodka
  • 1 oz coconut cream
  • 1 oz half and half (or half milk and half cream like I used)
  • 1/2 oz white creme de cacao
  • grated white chocolate

Rim your martini glass with grated white chocolate.  In a shaker, add ice and all of the ingredients above, except for the grated white chocolate that you used to rim your martini glass.  Shake and strain your cocktail into your rimmed martini glass.

Here's to yummy white chocolate rimmed cocktails!

Cheers!!

Fall Orchard Punch

I was sent a couple bottles of Angry Orchard to try in exchange for my open and honest opinion.  I was not paid for my opinions.

fall orchard punch, fall punch, autumn punch, angry orchard, rum, grand marnier, lemon juice, cranberry syrup, raspberry puree, fall cocktail, autumn cocktail, Thanksgiving punch, Thanksgiving cocktail

There it is!

I said it.

The BEST Fall Punch EVER!!

I was sent a couple bottles of Angry Orchard Crisp Apple and Cinnful Apple along with a few recipes.

I have already made the Hot & Angry and last weekend I made Fall Orchard Punch.  OH MY GOODNESS, this is a perfect punch for Thanksgiving.....or a Fall/Autumn party.....or whenever really.

There are two parts to creating this punch.

The first part is to make the Cranberry Syrup.

I made it a day ahead so that I knew it would be ready in time.  (Wait, I didn't tell you that my youngest turned 6 and we had her family party on Saturday.

I decided to make this punch and to see how everyone liked it.)

First you pour cranberry juice into a pot.

cranberry syrup, how to make cranberry syrup

Next you add sugar to the pot and cook on low until the sugar is completely dissolved.

Let it sit and cool completely.  I then transferred it to a tupperware and stuck it in the fridge over night.

When you are ready to make this punch, it literally only takes a few minutes and is really really easy to make.

I whipped it together in a punch bowl and put a few Ice Balls inside to keep it cool.  We poured it into short glasses over ice because it tasted even better the colder it was.

This punch was such a hit, I'm making it again this weekend for the holiday!  Which reminds me that when I went to the store today......that I forgot to get more of the short plastic glasses for the punch........dang it!

Here is the recipe for Fall Orchard Punch:

print recipe

Fall Orchard Punch
Ingredients
  • 4 bottles Angry Orchard Crisp Apple Cider
  • 8 ounces white rum
  • 1 1/2 ounces Grand Marnier
  • 3 ounces lemon juice
  • 6 ounces cranberry syrup**
  • 3 ounces raspberry puree
Instructions
In a punch bowl add all of the ingredients above except for the Angry Orchard Crisp Apple. Stir everything in the bowl together. Top off with the Angry Orchard Crisp Apple.

**To make the cranberry syrup:
- 2 cups cranberry juice
- 1 cup granulated sugar

In a pot, pour in the cranberry juice and sugar. Heat on low until the sugar is all dissolved. Set aside and let it completely cool. Once cooled, pour in a tupperware and stick it in the fridge to chill overnight.

Once our first batch ran out we had no more of the Angry Orchard Crisp Apple.  Luckily a friend had brought the green Angry Orchard cider so we made the second batch with that.  Although it's totally doable, the Crisp one was better because it wasn't as sweet at the green one.

Here are the ingredients:

fall orchard punch, fall punch, autumn punch, angry orchard, rum, grand marnier, lemon juice, cranberry syrup, raspberry puree, fall cocktail, autumn cocktail, Thanksgiving punch, Thanksgiving cocktail

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!  This year my parents Anniversary lands on Thanksgiving, so we have 2 reasons to celebrate!

Cheers!

Hot & Angry

Hot & Angry, Angry Orchard Cinnful Apple, tequila, lime juice, pineapple juice, simple syrup, cholula hot sauce, fall cocktails, autumn cocktails, apple cocktails

Rumor has it...it's the 10th of November.

What??

Onto fall cocktails (which I think are fun!).

I was sent a couple bottles of Angry Orchard Crisp Apple and Angry Orchard Cinnful Apple.
I have never tried the Cinnful Apple before and was pleasantly surprised!  Along with my samples were a few cocktail recipes which I am excited about, especially this one because it has Cholula Hot Sauce in it!

Yes you heard me right.......Cholula Hot Sauce!!

Between the Cinnamon flavor in the Angry Orchard and the hot sauce, this should be a spicy cocktail.

You know what else is a staple in this house in the fall (besides delicious cocktails), people getting sick.

4 of 4 was the first, me the second and now 2 of 4 and 3 of 4 have tag teamed and are both sick.

Poor things!

I'm happy tomorrow is a holiday so that they can get even more rest.

Let me tell you a little bit about this cocktail:

At first sip it's cool and refreshing, which was sort of surprising to me as all I could think about was the cinnamon and hot sauce flavors.

After a minute the cinnamon flavor kicked it which was nice and after another minute or so came the hot sauce flavor and heat.

How fun to get all of that in each sip of this cocktail.  You can even see the hot sauce floating around in there.

All in all I really enjoyed making and drinking this cocktail!

I look forward to making another recipe that I was given as well!

I want to wish all of the Veterans out there a very Happy Veterans Day tomorrow!
