Tropical Easter

Tropical Easter

Happy Friday!!  I started off the day with my mad dash to drop off one of my girls, drive up the hill (in the snow......uphill both ways.....for dramatic effect), park and walk our youngest girl to school.  Put her in her spot, gave the teacher a Hi-Five and took off back down the hill to pick up our oldest daughters glasses and my phone and hurry back over to her school to get her glasses to her and meet my folks in the MUR (Multi Use Room) for her 1st grade performance of Stone Soup.  OH MY GOODNESS, it was the cutest thing ever!!  The entire 1st grade class was part of the Stone Soup play!  There was singing, and talking and announcing and acting.....I was extremely impressed!  Some of the kids sang solo, and they were REALLY good!!  What a fun way to start the day!

Knowing Easter is on Sunday (but honestly not sure how we got here so quickly) I knew I needed to make a fun cocktail for you all.......you know......to give you options and all.  I have been thinking of my banana liqueur for a while now.....and decided that I needed to make a fun cocktail with it.  I present Tropical Easter, b/c I think Easter should be tropical sometimes.  It's delicious.......I mean it has banana liqueur in it!

I hope all of you that do celebrate Easter have a wonderful time!  We are hosting here (which we do every year) and having my family and my husbands family over.  We always look forward to it!!  For those of you not celebrating, have a fantastic weekend!!

Here is my recipe for Tropical Easter:

  • 2 ounces coconut rum
  • 2 ounces banana liqueur
  • 2 ounces pineapple juice
In a shaker, add ice and all of the ingredients above.  Shake well and strain so that you get a good froth on the top of your cocktail.

Here's to the weekend!  May you have amazing weather and delicious cocktails!

Cheers!!

Creamy Irish Balls

Creamy Irish Balls

creamy irish balls cocktail, baileys, irish cream liqueur, fireball whisky, cinnamon whisky

It's Friday!  It's been over a week (one day over) since I've last posted and I promise that I have been wanting to in this last week.  I really did.  My days have been filled up with family and helping them out.  I absolutely LOVE the fact that I am a stay at home Mom, for the sole reason that when my kids are in school I can help out with family stuff in my free time.  This is the very first year that I have had all 4 kids in school, so it's a nice change.

I was looking online for some Irish inspired cocktails for St. Patrick's Day.  I found a couple and decided to put my own twist on them.  Today's cocktail I call Creamy Irish Balls.  I had a few names for this cocktail come to mind, but this one I thought was the best!

This cocktail is creamy from the Irish Cream and then has a nice cinnamon kick at the end.  Fireball whisky seems to do that when mixed with other ingredients.  It always seems to give a good cinnamon-ey kick to finish off each sip.  Now you have another option when trying to decide what to drink for St. Patrick's Day!  My goal is to give you a couple more choices between now and then.

Here's my recipe for Creamy Irish Balls:

  • 1 1/2 ounces Irish Cream Liqueur
  • 1 1/2 ounces Fireball Whisky
In a shaker, add ice and both ingredients above.  Shake and strain into a glass and enjoy!

Here's to family.  I don't know what I would do without mine!

Coffee and Tres Leches

Coffee and Tres Leches

tres leches cocktail shot, tres leches liqueur, kahlua, coffee liqueur, layered shot

I am soooo excited today!!  Today, thanks to all of you out there, I have reached 1000 followers on my Pinterest page!!  You are all amazing and I Thank You from the bottom of my heart!  Guess what........my Facebook page is not too far behind with 960 Likes!!  Like I said, you all totally rock!!  OH OH and I created an awesome shirt and am selling them on Teespring, here's a link to check it out.  They're only available for 3 more days, so be sure to order them today!

Since I'm excited about it and it's been a loooong week (yes I know it's not over yet), I wanted to create something new for you all to try.  Trust me, you'll WANT to try this!!  I bought a bottle of Tres Leches liqueur a while back and besides having people sample it when they come over, I haven't made a cocktail with it.  I wanted to change that so I thought coffee sounded good with Tres Leches AND I WAS RIGHT!!  This is soo delicious!  If you have a bottle of each of these two simple ingredients, you will need to try this layered shooter.

This is a good start to my evening.  After I finish cooking dinner and eating with the family, my husband and I are headed out to have a beer.......or two at our favorite local Irish Pub to celebrate my 1000 Pinterest followers.  Thanks to you all, I get to have a couple beers!  If you have tried Tres Leches liqueur before and have some awesome cocktail recipes for me to try, I would love to hear about them!  Email me at cocktailady@gmail.com or you can use the contact form on the left hand side of this page!

Here is my recipe for Coffee and Tres Leches:

  • 1 ounce Tres Leches Liquer
    • 1/2 ounce Kahlua
In a shot glass, pour in the Kahlua.  Over the back of a spoon, layer the Tres Leches Liqueur.  Shoot and enjoy!
