Hi Cocktail Lady,Good luck with your 365 days of cocktails! I am a reader of Stephanie's Year of Slow Cooking and followed her link to your site. My husband and I don't drink much but some of your cocktails look gorgeous and remind me a lot of those we had at university!I was just wondering if perhaps you would consider adding a rating for each cocktail giving the alcoholic units in each? Thanks and keep up the hard (!) work.
Hello Carrie!Thank You for your message! Are you referring to what the alcoholic content by volume is for each cocktail?Thank You for your comment on my photos, some on them look so good when I make them that I almost don't want to drink them! I'm excited that you found me through Stephanie, she's a wonderful lady and great at what she does!I appreciate all comments and suggestions to help me improve my blog.Cheers!!The Cocktail Lady
Hello!Great blog! I was going to put a word in for the classic Champagne Cocktail. My recipe is something along these lines, but you may find a better recipe:Ingredients 1 sugar cube 2-3 drops Angostura bitters 20ml/¾fl oz cognac/brandy enough champagne to fill the glassPreparation method Place the sugar cube onto a spoon and add the bitters. Drop the soaked sugar cube into a champagne flute and add the cognac. Top up the glass with champagne and serve. It's a fun one to sip while watching black and white films, or if you want to feel decadent while swanning round the house in your pyjamas!Cheers!Ginny
Hi Ginny! Welcome to my blog! I'm glad you're here and you like my blog! I will add your Champage Cocktail to my list! Thank You for the recipe. I hope you look around and enjoy reading about all that I have to say......and drink! Cheers!!
Hi again!I was thinking of your comment about how hot it was/is where you are. One of the best cocktails for drinking in the heat is a Dawa (it's the Swahili word for medicine!). I passed my misspent youth drinking these on the beach in Kenya!INGREDIENTS 1 part Vodka Ice 1/2 a Lime 1 tablespoon HoneyINSTRUCTIONSSlice lime into wedges and place in strong tumbler. Apply pressure to the wedges with a stick (we used to get sticks of sugar cane. You need something about the thickness of a wooden spoon handle) to release the lime juice without pulping.Add the honey and then cover with ice. Pour vodka over the ice and muddle to mix the lime juice, honey and vodka. Lovely in the heat! Let me know what you think.Cheers!Ginny
I appologize! I thought I had replied to you post. This cocktail sounds interesting! I have seen a couple other cocktails that have honey as one of the ingredients in them and thought it would be fun to try one. I put this one on my list and can't wait to try it! Thank You!!
I see you keep midori around, you might like a midori sour. I've not had a chance to try it myself but it is my best friend's favorite cocktail.1oz Midori2oz sour mixShake with ice and serve. Some recipes call for Sprite as well.
Thank You Anonymous! I do have that cocktail on my list, but promised a friend that I would make it on her birthday.......so in November I will most definitely be making that cocktail! Please do let me know if you have any other favorite cocktail recipes for me to try! Cheers!!
Hi! I was wondering where you get all the different fruit purees you use? I can't seem to find them anywhere!
Hi Tammy! I get all of my fruit purees at BevMo (Beverages and More). I'm not sure if you have a BevMo where you live or not. You can also order them on their website which is www.bevmo.com . I have a reader who lives on the East Coast and they do not have a BevMo, but her local big liquor store sold a couple of them. You could also check out the Finest Call website (that's the brand name of my purees) at http://www.finestcall.com/ maybe you could find out if there is a distributor in your area. I hope you are able to find them close to you!! =)
Hello, my name is Sherell aka PJ, in Maryland. I have a CINNAMON flavored VODKA. I've had this for maybe two years now...I cannot think of any recipe for it! Any suggestions?
Hello Sherell! Welcome! I enjoyed your other comment posts on my blog! I have not yet tried cinnamon vodka........believe it or not. I will see if I can find it in one of those little mini bottles and give it a try. I'm sure there are some good recipes out there (fingers crossed). Stay tuned! Cheers!!
