Bart Simpson Shooter

Day 167

Bart Simpson Shooter
3.5 shots out of 5

Holy hot day!

Tonight's softball game should be nice and toasty!

One of my oldest sons friends was visiting from Idaho so the two of them and a few of their friends got to have a fun day of soccer at the H.S. and laser tag here.

I'm so glad that no matter how far away my son is from his close friends, that they still keep in touch and get excited to see one another.

I gave tonight's cocktail 3.5 shots out of 5.

This shooter is absolutely a shooter that I can shoot and not cringe and make yucky alcoholy faces at.

I like those kinds of shooters!

This cocktail goes down quick (as shooters should) and makes you think that you can do a few more of them, no prob!

Just be careful........that's all I'm saying.

Midori makes a return tonight to add some delicious flavor to the Malibu rum and vodka, good combo!

And yes, you did hear that right, I just took a shot and YES I'm going to play a softball game tonight!

Good paying attention!  haha........just don't tell my teammates............they might get jealous!

  • 1/3 shot vodka

Here's to another good shooter.  Gone are the days where shooters are only tequila that makes you gag, squinch up your face and run away!!

Tropical Hooter

Day 166

Tropical Hooter
4.5 shots out of 5

Softball starts up tomorrow night and I've been off for a year since I fractured my elbow.

Kinda nervous.......I'm not gonna lie.

Therefore, my oldest son took me out to the backyard to hit some balls off the Tee.

Then my husband came out to perfect my swing (still a work in progress, but 100 times better then it was!).

I feel better about it and excited to be starting up again!

I gave tonight's cocktail 4.5 shots out of 5.

This was a cocktail that I had put a tab on a while back in my book "The Bartender's Black Book".

Tonight was the nice to try it and I'm very happy I did!  After a long batting instruction session from both my son and husband, this cocktail is OH SO needed!

Malibu rum and Midori go amazingly together!

The little splash of cranberry and pineapple juice add the faintest taste of awesomeness to this already good cocktail.

I'm liking this drink a lot and wishing I'd made a double batch.

Here is a photo of the end result:

Peach on Malibu Beach

Day 165

Peach on Malibu Beach
5 shots out of 5

There goes another weekend!

We had an action packed weekend which ended with a family BBQ and swim party.  The kids had a blast, as did we.

My husband got his 2 1/2 soccer team rosters which means that soccer season is about to take off!  Even more reasons to have these nightly cocktails!!

I gave tonight's cocktail 5 shots out of 5.

This is a super yummy cocktail!

I received this recipe from Jonathan through twitter!

He told me to give it a try......so I did, sooooooooo glad I did!

Tonight's cocktail reminds me of both my Sex On The Beach cocktail as well as my Hawaiian Punch cocktail.

I love the flavors of all ingredients involved with this cocktail and each one compliments the others very well, yummmm-ey!

Thank you Jonathan for this amazing recipe!  This cocktail will be made here again.......and again.......oh and again!

Blue-Woo

Day 164

Blue-Woo
4 shots out of 5

Happy Saturday everyone!

It's been a long week and this weekend seems to be going by pretty fast......already.

We have an action packed weekend which always helps it move along in the fast lane.

Time for a cocktail!

I gave tonight's cocktail 4 shots out of 5.

This is another cocktail using my blueberry schnapps, and NOT pineapple juice......so this one's for you Stacy!

The cranberry and blueberry mix pretty well together and the vodka gives it just a little bite which is nice.

I am enjoying this blueberry schnapps more then I thought I would.

I was afraid that it would be quite sweet and syrupy tasting and it's not (so far with the cocktails I've made it with).

If I was feeling in the blueberry/cranberry mood I would definitely make this one again.

Did I mention that this cocktail is an awesome purple color as well!!

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

Here is the recipe for a Blue-Woo (which I got off of the blueberry schnapps bottle):

  • 1oz vodka
  • 1oz blueberry schnapps
  • 2oz cranberry juice
In a shaker add ice and all of the ingredients above.  Shake it up real well to get the mixture really chilled and strain it into a martini glass (you can even chill the glass ahead of time too).

Here's to you Stacy and your allergy to pineapple, a pineapple free blueberry cocktail!  Hope you enjoy this one and please let me know what you think!

Cheers!!

Jen's Banana Daiquiri

Day 163

Jen's Banana Daiquiri
4.5 shots out of 5

So I had a few really ripe bananas and decided to skip the banana bread and head straight to the blender and make a Banana Daiquiri.

I'm glad I did!!  This daiquiri was more then called for tonight!

I gave tonight's cocktail 4.5 shots out of 5.

My only complaint.........and it's not really a complaint....is that I wish I had a banana that wasn't as ripe as mine was.

I can taste the difference and would totally have given this cocktail 5 shots out of 5 if my banana wasn't so ripe.

Otherwise, I think I concocted a pretty darn good Banana Daiquiri (rewarding myself with another BIG sip).

As you know I do love the taste of banana in my cocktails and this one is right up my alley.

I'm definitely going to try this one again with a not so ripe banana real soon!

If you do try tonight's cocktail, please let me know what you think, good or bad, I just want to hear what you think about it!

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

Here is the recipe for Jen's Banana Daiquiri:

  • 1 ripe (but not too ripe) banana
  • 1 Tbs. sugar
  • 2 oz light rum
  • 1/4 oz lime juice
  • 1 oz banana liqueur
In a blender add 1 cup of ice and all of the ingredients above.  Blend until all of the ice is gone and sit back and enjoy!!

Here's to "yet another" scrum-dittily-umptous banana cocktail!

White Linen

Day 162

White Linen
5 shots out of 5

If you want a gin cocktail White Linen is a very refreshing one for any night....or afternoon.....or whenever you need a cocktail.

Did you see that?

I just gave a gin cocktail 5 shots out of 5!!

What is this world coming to?

I made a run to my local BevMo today to get a sample bottle of St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur so that I could make tonight's cocktail.

Glad I did!!

I gave tonight's cocktail 5 shots out of 5.

I can't believe how much I like this cocktail!

For those of you who don't know.......I always used to RUN the other way when a cocktail had gin in it.  Yuck, didn't like it at all.  The smell of it alone was too much.

Now doing this blog, I have found that gin is not a horrible thing at all (to my surprise).

Now, Elderflower Liqueur I had never heard of until a month or so ago, then I received a recipe for White Linen Cocktail from Crystal not too long ago.  Crystal first tried this cocktail in a local restaurant that her and her husband went to and enjoyed it enough to get the recipe and send it to me, and I Thank You Crystal for doing so!

This cocktail is refreshing and delicious!

The smell of the Elderflower Liqueur itself is amazing, and the proportions of it along with the gin, lime juice and sprite.....WOW!!

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

Here is the recipe for White Linen:

  • 1 1/2 oz gin
  • 1/2 oz St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur
  • 1/2 oz lime juice
  • 3 oz sprite (lemon-lime soda)

In a shaker, add ice, gin, Elderflower Liqueur and lime juice.  Shake them up real well and strain your mixture into a tall glass filled with crushed ice.  Next pour in your sprite and EN-JOY!

I will definitely have to look for more recipes with this yummy liqueur in it in the future!

Cheers!!

Pineapple Drink

Day 161

Pineapple Drink
4 shots out of 5

Today's Wednesday, which means the week is half over!

I can see the weekend over the horizon!

Simple things like that make me happy.

Speaking of simple, tonight's cocktail is just that!  I found it here, and am glad I did!!

I gave tonight's cocktail 4 shots out of 5.

This is a simple cocktail to make which is nice.

The blend of blueberry schnapps and pineapple juice is pretty darn good!

Tonight's cocktail is a smooth one....that I think I would consider as a creeper.....which could make it a dangerous cocktail, so watch out!

The color of this Pineapple Drink is fun too!

This would be a good cocktail to make in a large quantity to just pour as people want more (and they will).

I am a big fan of tonight's cocktail and I just may go make another one right now (yes I have finished it already!).

Here is a photo of the end result:

Amaretto Colada

Day 160

Amaretto Colada
4 shots out of 5

Did you know that April 19th is National Amaretto Day??  What better way to celebrate then with an Amaretto Colada??

Amaretto Colada is the perfect blended cocktail using rum, amaretto and pineapple juice.

It's hot.

It's Tuesday.

The little one had a set of immunizations yesterday........and she's cranky.

So is mom.

That must mean it's time for tonight's cocktail!  No, it definitely means that!!

I gave tonight's cocktail 4 shots out of 5.

I have had this one pinned on my Pinterest board for quite some time now.

Tonight was the night to make it!  My pin led me here.

I blended up this cocktail and had everything except for the whipping cream so I substituted it with the closest thing I had, milk.

I can absolutely taste the amaretto the most in this cocktail (hence the name).

It's a little overpowering in some sips......then in other sips it gets a little better and I taste more of the cream of coconut.  Regardless, this is a pretty enjoyable cocktail.

Here is a photo of the end result:

Raspberry Truffle

Day 159

Raspberry Truffle
3.5 shots out of 5

Monday.

Yes I said it, the "M" word.

It marks yet another week of cocktails.

I know I've said it before, but when I sit back and think about it, I CAN NOT believe that I have found/received, made, tried and blogged about 159 cocktails!!

Plus the fact that there are SOOOO MANY more out there for me to try.

I gave tonight's cocktail 3.5 shots out of 5.

I received tonight's cocktail from Sandi.

Sandi wanted to invent a cocktail that tasted like some of her favorite ice creams, so she invented the Raspberry Truffle.

She gave me a few options on the vodka, so I went with the Raspberry Vodka.

This is a yummy cocktail!

I first strained it into a martini glass and it warmed up quickly and didn't taste as good as I knew it should.

Then I poured that into the glass below with some ice, stirred it up and it tasted a lot better.

This is a nice creamy cocktail that goes down smooth.  It's been husband and Stephanie (The Crockpot Lady) approved as well!

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

Here is the recipe for a Raspberry Truffle:

  • 2 oz Irish cream
  • 2 oz black raspberry liqueur
  • 1 oz raspberry vodka
  • 1/4 oz chocolate syrup

In a shaker add ice and all ingredients above.  Shake it up real well and strain it into a cocktail glass filled with ice.  This will strain slow due to the Irish cream and chocolate syrup, so be patient........or not like I was and shake the hell out of it while it's straining.

Thank You Sandi for a quite yummy cocktail!  That was a great way to start of another week of cocktails!

Cheers!!

Greyhound

Day 158

Greyhound
5 shots out of 5

First off I would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to our good friend Adam!

Adam's favorite cocktail is a Greyhound, so I promised him that I would make one on his birthday, so tonight's cocktail is for you Adam!!

I gave tonight's cocktail 5 shots out of 5.

I have never had a greyhound before, but now that I do really enjoy grapefruit juice in my cocktails, I have been dying to try this one for a few months now........just needed to wait until tonight to make it.

I found many variations for vodka to grapefruit juice online, so I basically went with somewhere in the middle.

This is a very refreshing cocktail and one that is super easy to make.

I know I will be enjoying many more of theses in my future!

Thank You Adam for letting me make this cocktail on your special day!

Here is a photo of the end result:
