Angry By The Fire

I was sent a couple bottles of Angry Orchard so that I could make a cocktail or two of theirs to share with you all.  I was not paid and all opinions are my own and completely honest.

I chose Angry By The Fire because of all of the fun ingredients that goes inside!

From Angry Orchard to Fireball Whisky to heavy cream and more, this cocktail is a delicious fun blend of ingredients topped with cinnamon.  It is definitely one I will make again!

Angry orchard, fireball and heavy cream make this cocktail the perfect holiday cocktail.

With two day left until Christmas, our kids could not be more excited!

We've had one family Christmas party so far with two to go.

Last night we went over to our friends house and had Christmas Carolers come and sing a few songs to us.

What a fun experience!

I've only seen that in the movies and it was so super special to see it live!

Back to today's cocktail!

What a fun cocktail to make with all of these ingredients!  Also, it allowed me to make my very own, very first Homemade Vanilla Simple Syrup!  Here's how I did it in my Vanilla Simply Syrup post in case you want to make it yourself!

Obviously you are going to add some Angry Orchard to your shaker.

Vanilla Simple Syrup can be used in cocktails and food recipes alike.

You are going to combine equal parts of water and sugar.

Heat them together on the stove until the sugar is completely dissolved.

Let the vanilla infuse into the water and sugar mix for a few minutes while it cools.

Jar it up and stick it in the fridge.

Captain Morgan's Jack-O Blast Recipes

(I was not paid for this review, all opinions are solely my own)

Captain Morgan rum isn't just regular rum.

They have spiced rum (which I'm sure you've heard of), and flavored rums such as coconut, pineapple & grapefruit.

They also have a line of cannon ball shaped bottles which include Jack-O Blast, Loconut and Cannon Blast.

I was sent a bottle of Jack-O Blast so that I could try a couple of their cocktails for myself.

Given the fact that it's been a year since I've tasted Jack-O'Blast, I decided to start off with their Captain Morgan Jack-O'Blast Shot.

I do like Captain Morgan's spiced rum, and I do like a good pumpkin flavor.

I must say, Captain Morgan blended these two flavors perfectly.  The pumpkin is not overwhelming, but it is definitely there.  This flavored spiced rum is a winner!

Oh and did I mention that it smells good too!

OK, we are 1 for 1 so far!  Let's try another one.  Next I decided to try their Apple Jack-O.

This cocktail mixes the flavors of spiced pumpkin rum and apple cider.

Apple cider to me always mellows out a cocktail.

That being said, the pumpkin and apple flavors work well together.

This is a cocktail that you can sip on and enjoy.  It's cold and refreshing.

That makes us 2 for 2.

Great job Captain Morgans!

Here are the ingredients for the Apple Jack-O.

I am really enjoying the flavor of Captain Morgan's Jack-O'Blast.  I think I might even try it with coke........later on tonight.

Here are Captain Morgan's recipes for their two yummy cocktails!

Mulled Wine

Have you ever had Mulled Wine?  You know hot wine.......spices.......citrus.  Ever?

OK, I will admit.......I was very scared to try it.  The thought of hot wine with different spices......well it kinda scared me.

A few weeks ago.......or a month ago......OK, no a month and a half ago, a friend of mine and I did a paintnite.

It was fun!  Another things that I honestly wasn't sure that I'd like, but decided to do my first one about a year ago and have done 3 more since!  Love it.

Anyways, back to the last paintnite.  Well this was the first ever paintnite where they had a raffle.

How fun!

What's even more fun?  The fact that I won a bottle of wine, that's what!  Since I hadn't opened the bottle yet, I decided to use it in my first ever creation of Mulled Wine.  Glad I did!

OK, so how exactly do you make mulled wine?  It's actually pretty simple, I must say.

Get all of your ingredients together.  Slice the orange and stick two cloves into one slice and two into another.

Mulled Wine cooking on the stove.

Add most of your ingredients.  Warm it up on the stove.  Give everything a good stir.  Once it's all ready, add in the Cointreau.  Mmmmmm.

Mulled Wine with Cointreau

Be prepared to really like this recipe!  I mean it.  Don't be fooled like I was and think you won't like it.

OH AND YOU KNOW WHAT?!?!  Later on in the evening, we poured a glass and stuck some ice in it to cool it down and make it cold.

GUESS WHAT?!?!

IT WAS DELICIOUS!!!!!!!  I MEAN REALLY DELICIOUS!!!!

Mulled Wine

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 750 milliliter bottle of red wine (I used Merlot)
  • 2 cups apple cider
  • 4 cloves
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 orange (cut into slices)
  • 1/4 cup Cointreau

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Slice the orange into even 1/4 inch slices.
  2. Stick two cloves into the skin of one of the orange slices and two into the skin of another orange slice
  3. In a pot on the stove, pour in the wine, apple cider, sugar, cinnamon sticks and orange slices (including the slices that have the cloves in them).
  4. Heat on medium until it begins to simmer, once you have a simmer, turn the burner to low and let it cook for 30 minutes. Stir occasionally.
  5. After 30 minutes of cooking, add the Cointreau, stir and serve.

So whether you try it hot or chilled.  I say try it both ways!  This here is the best mulled wine I've ever had.  Granted I've never had Mulled Wine before this, but I can't imagine any other Mulled Wine being better!

Patriotic Berry Fizz

The combination of raspberry vodka, blueberry schnapps, sprite and grenadine.

Ready or not, the 4th of July is just 4 days away!

Are you ready?

Are you ready to admit that the year is half over?  Me either.

Patriotic Berry Fizz is the PERFECT cocktail for the 4th of July!

And just look at it!  Isn't it pretty!!  Those colors make me want to just dive in and drink it all up.

OK, maybe not "dive" in because......you know, the schnapps and grenadine will get you all sticky and such.  So maybe just a big straw?

This cocktail is another one of my layered cocktails.  But really, it looks more like an ombre then a layered cocktail.  Oh I like that.....ombre!

I mean check out that ombre!

Usually I don't care too much for a "bubbly" cocktail, but the amount of lemon-lime soda in this cocktail is quite refreshing!

Not only is it fun to look at, it's delicious to drink too!

And of course you need to garnish it with fresh blueberries and raspberries!  Mmmmm.

Make sure you garnish and have a bowl on the side.  You just may want to dunk a few more in as you enjoy your cocktail!

OH WAIT!!  I didn't tell you!  We got a pool!  OK, no we didn't dig a HUGE hole in our backyard.

We bought an above the ground pool!!  This pool by Intex to be exact!

It's a 12' pool.

The kids have swam EVERY........SINGLE..........DAY since we've gotten it!  It's the perfect size for our yard (they have smaller and bigger ones too).  My husband purchased a cover, filter, chlorine tablets and something else I can't remember to make it perfect for the kids.  We got EVERYTHING on Amazon and we are sooo excited about it!

It's the perfect size for my 3 youngest to play around and have a blast!  We could even toss a few more kids in there and there would still be PLENTY of room!

I hope your plans for the 4th include some delicious food and drinks!  I sure know mine will!  I have a feeling that there will be a lot of BBQing, hor dourve eating and alcohol drinking over the next few days in our family!

OK, onto the recipe.......because I know that's why you all are here!
