Red, White & Blue Cocktails

Red, White & Blue Cocktails

It is officially July!

I can't believe it!!

July has to be one of my most favorite months ever.

To me July is the month that summer (my favorite season) has officially come and the weather proves it.

Beautiful days in July lead to beautiful nights.

I feel so lucky because my birthday is actually in this amazing month too!  I will be entering my very last year in my 30's in 2 days.

I remember the months and days leading up to my 30th birthday were not too easy for me.  For some reason I did not want to turn 30........it.......kinda scared me.

That was (just about) 9 years ago and I can honestly say, I will enjoy it and embrace my 40th birthday with open arms.

With the 4th of July getting closer and closer I wanted to give you a handful of red, white and blue cocktail that you can choose from.

They are all delicious and between all 9 you can choose between vodka, gin, champagne, different rums and hpnotiq.

Starting with the super delicious red cocktail in the top corner, I give you Cherry Crepe.

Right below that we have my Pomegranate Gimlet.  If you like gimlets, you will LOVE this one!

The third one down is a nice champagne cocktail called Blushing Bride.  Why not celebrate with some champagne!

Back up to the top we go in the white column.  The first cocktail you see is the Piña Colada.  This cocktail is always in season and always fantastic!

Right below that is a nice light gin cocktail called White Lady.  It's simple yet refreshing.

Last, but certainly not least on our list of white cocktails is the Chi Chi.  3 simple ingredients that go extremely well together!

The final row in this post are the blue cocktails.  First up is the Blue Breeze.  It is a lighter cocktail with a fun blue color.

Moving down the line is the Blue Hawaiian.  I still remember the day I first made this cocktail......I fell in love with it.  This cocktail makes me think for a moment that I am sitting on a beach while enjoying it.

Finally the last blue cocktail I have for you is my Blueberry Daiquiri.  Oh my goodness this one was good!  So good in fact that I might need to make a batch of them really really soon!

There you have it.  9 cocktails for you to choose from.  All of them are good and patriotic in color!  Whether you choose a red, white or blue cocktail, I wish you all a fantastic 4th of July!

Cheers!!

Patriotic Cocktails for the 4th of July

Patriotic Cocktails
For The 4th Of July

This past weekend was amazing!

We had our family reunion which brought family in from all over the states.

My grandma is 1 of 9 children, so you can only image the amount of people we can get at these reunions.

The weather was perfect which brought us all to the pool for a great time.  There was laughing, singing, dancing and LOTS and LOTS of drinking!

Our family is kind of known for the way we can put back a few so as you can imaging the laughing, singing and dancing only got better at the days went by.

The weather this past weekend reminds me of how hot it gets for the 4th of July.  With that holiday just around the corner, I wanted to share with you some of my Patriotic Cocktail I've made over the years.

This shooter I made 4 years ago!  It's kind of amazing to think that I have been blogging for over 4 years.  Crazy actually!  Here is my Red White & Blue Shooter.

I initially made this fun cocktail 4 years ago, but felt the need to share it with you all again not too long ago.

This one is called Red White & Hpnotiq Blue Martini.  Just looking at the picture now makes me want to go out and buy a bottle of Hpnotiq, mmmmm.

This next shooter I made 3 years ago.  When I think of home cooking and America, I think of my grandma's apple pies.  This Apple Pie shooter is very delicious and simple to make.

Next up is a milkshake I made 3 years ago.

This one I call Memorial Milkshake.  It is the perfect cocktail to make on a nice hot day.

This fun cocktail I also made 3 years ago.

When I initially was trying to make this cocktail I was completely going for a blue cocktail.  Apparently that didn't go too well and it turned out purple, but hey, purples a great color too!  Here is my Purple Independence.

Onto another fun layered cocktail that I made 2 years ago.  This cocktail, Patriotic Celebration, was fun to make and equally fun to look at.  It's was quite tasty and very patriotic looking.

Remembrance is a very refreshing cocktail.  I also created this cocktail 2 years ago.

Although you can not see the different colors of ingredients in this cocktail, I can tell you that I do have red, white and blue all mixed up inside.

Finally the last cocktail is one that I made last week!

With summer weather beginning to hang around more often then not lately, I had decided to create something with watermelon puree.  This is my American Watermelon Daiquiri.

Those are the fun, delicious and tasty Patriotic Cocktails that I have made over the past 4 years.  Do you have any favorite Patriotic Cocktails that you like to enjoy?  I'd love to hear about them!

Cheers!

Remembrance

Where were you 13 years ago today?

Do you remember?

I do.

I was on my way to work, I had just dropped off our oldest (then 2 1/2 years old) at his daycare.  I hopped back into the car, turned on the radio and my heart stopped there for a second.

What is this?

Is this a joke?

Are the radio announcers pulling one over on me?

It took me a couple minutes to realize what had happened.  I got to work and the TV's were on.  Things were a lot quieter then they usually were around the shop.

Then I saw the videos, oh my goodness......I heard about it on the radio, but until I actually saw it on the TV.....it just became real.

Our nation has done a lot of healing since then, yet there is much more to do.  My heart goes out to all of the families who have lost loved ones on this day 13 years ago.

To all of those who are still with us, yet were traumatized by this horrific event.  To all of those who's lives will never be the same.  My heart goes out to you all, America.

In honor of "remembering" this day 13 years ago, I wanted to create a cocktail to honor our great nation.  I call it "Remembrance".

I initially wanted to make a layered cocktail, but that failed, so I just went with it and kept mixing.

This is a mix of red (hardness & valour), white (purity and innocence) and blue (vigilance, perseverance & justice) alcohols and mixes.

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is my recipe for Remembrance:

  • 2 ounces cherry vodka
  • 3 ounces lemon-lime soda
  • 1/2 ounce grenadine
  • 1 ounce blue curacao

Fill a cocktail glass 3/4 with ice.  In a shaker, add the vodka and lemon-lime soda.  Shake and strain into the glass.  Add the blue curacao and grenadine.  Give it a stir and enjoy!

Here's to our great nation!

Cheers!!

Patriotic Celebration

The Patriotic Celebration has red, white and blue alcohol to make it look amazing!

Happy Tuesday!

It's softball Tuesday for me, which I am excited about.

Tonight we are playing a really good team filled with fun players.  It will be a good time.

My second oldest is on a field trip right now with his class which he was excited about, so I can't wait to hear all about it when he gets home.

My oldest, the girls and I are just relaxing at home.....we had a busy day yesterday.

There has been a lot of talk about the 4th of July around here lately which has given me the idea to create a new patriotic cocktail.

I searched through my bar for something blue...blue curacao?

Nope, couldn't find any........ahhhh, blueberry schnapps = perfect!  I haven't used this in a while and it's definitely time to use it again.

This cocktail is SUPER good!

It is definitely one to drink on a warm/hot day.

This cocktail has cake vodka (hence the "celebration" part) and the blueberry schnapps mixes well with it especially topped with the sprite, yum!

I poured some grenadine down the side to give it that American feel and it is perfect!

Here is a photo of the end result:

The Patriotic Celebration is a great cocktail for The 4th Of July.

Apple Pie

Apple Pie, Apple Pie recipe, Apple pie shot, Apple Pie photo, Apple Pie picture, Apple Pie image, whipped cream vodka, apple cider

Happy Saturday before the Fourth of July!

I figured I'd get this one in early so that you can try it this evening and let me know what you think.

With only 5 days left until the Fourth (4 until my birthday) I sat back and thought what flavor cocktail should I make to represent this great country?

Then the saying, "There's nothing more American than Apple Pie" came into my head.

BINGO!

I gave my very own creation 4.5 shots out of 5.

This shooter goes down VERY smooth and easy....yes it may even go down a bit too easy.

It tastes like apple pie and I have to say that the cinnamon sprinkled on top of this shooter is the one ingredient that REALLY makes it all come together.

So whatever you do, DO NOT forget the cinnamon (the photo below shows "some" cinnamon, but the rest is on the back side.......doh).......even if you don't like it all that much (like me), in this cocktail you can not skip it.

Here is a photo of the end result:
