Dingo

Just finished watching the end of the Giants game and am happy to say that Timmy just pitched a No-Hitter!

Unfortunately he got a huge container of powerade dumped on him (that's not the unfortunate part) and the top of the container seems to have knocked him in the back of his head.

After the second container was dumped on him, he ran downstairs into the locker room.

Gosh I hope he's OK.

Poor guy.

I have had my eye on this cocktail for quite some time.  About a week or so ago I was going to make it and then opened up my fridge and notices that I didn't have any OJ left.

Love it when the kids finish stuff and don't tell me about it.....

I found this cocktail over at Hampton Roads Happy Hour.

This cocktail is pretty good.

I have used Southern Comfort in two other cocktails so far.  The first was the Funky Cold Medina.....wasn't a huge fan of that one.

Then I tried it in the cocktail White Christmas, HUGE success!

My husband and I loved it as well as just about all of our friends and family.  Today was time to give So Co another shot (sure there was a little bit of pun there, I'll admit it).

The So Co definitely gave this cocktail a different flavor then I'm used to.

My first sip threw me so I had to take a couple more to really get the taste for it.  It's pretty good.  Not a favorite, or go to cocktail for me, but pretty good.  I'm thinking that if you are a So Co fan, you might just like this one.

Here is the recipe for a Dingo:

  • 1 ounce amaretto
  • 1 ounce sweet & sour mix
  • 2 ounces orange juice
  • 1/2 ounce grenadine

Funky Cold Medina

Day 350

Funky Cold Medina
2 shots out of 5

Can I just tell you that I was thinking about how far I've come with my blog today and realized that I only have sixteen more days left of my year?  Sixteen, that's two days more then two weeks, WOW.  That is kind of amazing to me because I vividly remember making my sixteenth cocktail, The Dirty Grinch.  I remember thinking that it would be an eternity until I actually had sixteen days left.......and here we are!

I gave tonight's cocktail 2 shots out of 5.  I found this cocktail at Hampton Roads Happy Hour.  Unfortunately I didn't like tonight's cocktail as much as I liked my sixteenth cocktail, but you can't win them all.  This recipe says that you can stir in the cranberry juice if you would like, but it's your choice.  STIR IT IN!  No choice, it must be stirred.  Stirring it in will insure that you will be making less funny faces after each sip.  I totally remember this song being over-played on the radio growing up......but I can't say that I like the cocktail.

Here is the recipe for a Funky Cold Medina:

  • 1 oz vodka
  • 1 oz blue curacao
  • 1 oz Southern Comfort
  • 1 oz cranberry juice
In a shaker, add ice and the first three ingredients above.  Shake well and dump your cocktail and ice into a good sized cocktail glass.  Pour the cranberry juice on top and choose whether you want to stir it in or not, I HIGHLY recommend you stirring it in.

Well Tone Loc, here's to song that reminds me of my younger years and a cocktail that will make me forget.

Cheers!!

White Christmas

Day 300

White Christmas
5 shots out of 5

Dr. Seuss's The Lorax came from Netflix today, so the house is a buzz!

It's time for dinner and a movie, but first, I need to tell you about tonight's cocktail and how fabulous it is!!  I found it (yes another one) at about.com.

Today started off kinda crappy and I must say this cocktail has MORE than made up for it.

I gave tonight's cocktail 5 shots out of 5.

I have got to say that I am totally enjoying some of these eggnog cocktails.

I'm actually enjoying them a whole lot more then I EVER thought I would.......but isn't that kind of the theme of my blog?

I have never tried Southern Comfort before (not that I'm aware of).  I thought it was just another bourbon or whiskey, but no!  It actually has fruit flavors, right up MY alley!!

These three very simple ingredients are amazing together, sooo amazing, that when I gave my husband a sip, he immediately asked if I was going to drink that.

When I told him he can have it and I'll make myself another, he got all big eyed and happy......then I told him I'd give his a double.

Oh my!

Was it Christmas morning already?

Here is the recipe for a White Christmas:

  • 4 oz eggnog
  • 1/2 oz Godiva White Chocolate Liqueur
  • 1 oz Southern Comfort
  • chocolate shavings for garnish

In a brandy snifter (yes Marisa I got it right this time, ha), add all of your ingredients except the chocolate shavings.  Stir it up good and then sprinkle your chocolate shavings on top. Just that simple and oh so delicious!!

This cocktail is a must try, especially for those of you who love eggnog (Lisa).

Cheers!!
