Pineapple Upside Down Cake Martini

Day 22

 Pineapple Upside Down Cake Martini
3 shots out of 5

Did you know that April 20th is National Pineapple Upside Down Cake Day?

You're welcome!!

OK, if that's not a mouthful I don't know what is!

I would think a bartender would get that glazed over look in his eyes when I got to the "cake" part of the cocktail.

I've seen this cocktail a few different places, pinterest and simply doing a search online.  This cocktail looks neat because it has 2 layers.....so that means that I need to try my hand at layering again, yikes!

As the name says it, tonight's cocktail actually does taste like an  pineapple upside down cake!  It's a little weird to be honest.  I had my husband try it, and without me saying anything he said the exact same thing!

I gave the Pineapple Upside Down Cake Martini 3 shots out of 5 because for one I am really enjoying cocktails with pineapple juice in them, two it looks really neat and three it tastes pretty good!

It gets a little extra sweet at the end, but leading up to it is pretty good.  Not sure that I would order this cocktail.......I wouldn't order this cocktail at a bar myself, but if you REALLY like the cake, you'll really enjoy this cocktail.

Pineapple Upside Down Cake Martini

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 ounce grenadine
  • 3 ounces vanilla vodka
  • 3 ounces pineapple juice

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Here's the trick! Pour your grenadine in the bottom of your cocktail glass.
  2. In a shaker put ice, vanilla vodka and pineapple juice.
  3. Shake the crap out of this for a good 25 seconds (seems like a shortish time, but it tires out your arms and if you have a shaker like mine it gets REALLY frosty and coooold).
  4. Slowly strain the mixture, along the side of the cocktail glass so that it floats on top of the grenadine. Your mixture will be a bit foamy, which is what you want.

  1. This sounds so delicious! You can't go wrong with a pineapple cocktail especially if it is based after an upside down cake. Yum!

  4. I've probably made over 200 pineapple upside-down cakes in my life (I taught Dutch oven cooking classes for years) but never a PUD cocktail. What a great idea!
