St. Patrick's Day Cocktails - Updated for 2025

st. patrick's day, st. patrick's day cocktails, st. patrick's day cocktail, irish, irish cocktail, irish cocktails

Ready or not, St. Patrick's Day is only 4 days away!

Yes, that's right!

But what does that mean?

Well, it means that you better get your cocktails in order.  STAT!

Over the years, I have made and created some pretty amazing cocktails, shooters, and more.  One of my favorite kinds of cocktails to make is a Holiday Cocktail!

They are so much fun to make!  I get to use different ingredients, colors, and decorations in my cocktails and photos, and I think it makes them taste better just knowing that they are a holiday cocktail.

For this round-up, I am going to share with you my St. Patrick's Day cocktails...now I only have a couple green cocktails in there, but if you REALLY wanted to have a green cocktail, I have a crap ton of other green "non St. Patrick's Day" cocktails on my blog that you can choose from.

Do you have traditions that your family does for St. Patrick's Day?  Now that our kids are grown, I no longer dump green food dye into the milk the night before for the kids to find in the morning....so besides eating corned beef, either putting a couple drops of green food coloring into our beers or making a yummy St. Patrick's Day cocktail....we really don't do much anymore.

OK, so onto the reason you are all here......My Collection of St. Patrick's Day Cocktails!

I wanted to start off with my Irish Delight, as the amazing people at Rent.com featured MY COCKTAIL, Irish Delight, in their 8 St. Patrick's Day Party Ideas Post!  It's been a while since I've posted and done much with my blog, so when I was contacted by them and told that they want to feature MY cocktail, I was excited!  Kinda ignited the small fire that was semi lit under my butt about jumping back onto the cocktail train!

Also, a friend of mine has been sending me Instagram reels from a local guy who reviews and tries different recipes that people send him....and that's ALWAYS been something that I've wanted to do (among other ideas I have racing through my head)!  Him sending all of those reels was the initial fire being re-lit...you know.....under my butt (as I mentioned in the paragraph above, lol).

Anyways, I have a good variety of different kinds of cocktails and shooters for you to try on Monday, and here they are!

Whiskies of the World

I was invited to attend Whiskies of the World.  My husband and I were given complimentary passes to experience all they had to offer.  I was not paid for this review.  This is my honest opinion of our experience.

What a fun experience we had on Saturday evening!

We were invited to attend Whiskies of the World on the San Francisco Belle Hornblower Yacht on their only night in San Francisco.

We got to get all dressed up which is always fun because.....you know.....4 kids....jeans, sweatshirts, tank tops, flip flops.  Yea we don't get to dress up very often.

The general admission tickets were $140 each and the VIP tickets were starting at $165.

We were excited to see what all we would experience once we got inside the yacht.

Once we boarded we were given a glass for our whisky samples.

As well as a bag with some advertisements inside as well as a guide to the booths and classes happening that evening.

Everything was so nice and well planned out.

They had 300 booths laid out in the program.  I'm not sure how many of them ended up participating (I only say that because one of the booths we were looking for was not in the spot it was assigned, but I'm sure that happens!)

They had whiskies from all over the world!  Such as this Indian Whisky which is made from Indian malted barley and Scottish peat.

We got there when it started and the crowds weren't as deep.

That allowed us to take a quick picture with the Whiskies of the World sign.

But soon after the crowds started to arrive and it got pretty crowded, but not uncomfortably crowded.

We tried quite a few different types of whisky from all different countries as well as some that are local.

We enjoyed the cheese, cracker, bread and fruit hor dourves they had out.

On the 2nd level of the yacht they served dinner and had whisky classes.

All in all we had a really nice time.  This is a MUST do for those of you who are whisky enthusiasts.  It's a great way to really try all different kinds of whiskeys from all over.

So many of these are made different ways by ingredients, amount of peat, flavorings, how long they're aged, how they are stored.  It's amazing how different they taste.

I've got nothing........I just thought that sign was funny!  Had to share!

It was nice to have a date night out with my husband and our good friends!

I want to thank Whiskies of the World for inviting us to such an amazing event!  We really enjoyed ourselves and all that the night had to offer!

If you are interested in checking out the tour for yourself go to their website at www.whiskiesoftheworld.com to see if there is a show near you!

Saturday's event was benefiting Casa Circulo Cultural www.circulocultural.org.  They are a local organization that operates out of Redwood City, CA.

Cheers!

SIA Scotch Whisky Review and Recipe

SIA Scotch Whisky Review and Recipe

I was contacted by Carin, the owner and founder of SIA Scotch Whisky.  She has created a whisky that she is very excited about and wanted to share it with me.  I was sent the sample of SIA Scotch Whisky you see in the photo above to try and create a new fun cocktail with.

I was sent a free product to review in exchange for my honest opinion.  All views in this post are mine and I was not compensated for them in any way.

Carin is a female entrepreneur who is based in San Franciso.

I thought that was pretty cool given the fact that we live not too far from there ourselves.

I'm impressed that she took her love of Scotch and decided to do something with it, bravo to you Carin!

SIA Scotch Whisky is a nice smooth blend.

My mission was to mix it up with a few ingredients that would compliment some of the flavors that are found inside the Scotch Whisky.

Mission Accomplished!!

This whisky combined perfectly with the ingredients I chose, and I have to say I really like this cocktail.

I am not much of a Scotch Whisky drinker, but I could definitely see myself ordering this cocktail at one of the many bars, or restaurants SIA is served at.

I am impressed with what Carin has accomplished as well as her whisky.

If you have any Scotch Whisky drinkers in the family, or even friends that enjoy it, I would recommend that you give SIA a try.  I think you just might like it!

Here is a link to the full list of the bars and restaurants, as well as stores that carry SIA Scotch Whisky.  Visit their webiste here to find out more!

Here is my recipe for a Whisky Sour Surprise:

  • 1 ounce SIA Scotch Whisky
  • 1 ounce lemon juice
  • 1 ounce amaretto
  • 1/2 ounce cointreau
  • 1/4 ounce Elderflower Liqueur
In a shaker, add ice and all of the ingredients above.  Shake and strain into a sugar rimmed short cocktail glass.

Thank You Carin for the sample of your delicious SIA Scotch Whisky!  I wish you all the best!!

Whiskey by John Lamond

Whiskey by John Lamond

**Some links in this post are affiliate links, meaning, at no additional cost to you, I will earn a commission if you follow the link and make a purchase.

I was sent a book to review a while ago named: Whiskey ** by John Lamond.

I was sent a free product to review in exchange for my honest opinion.  All views in this post are mine and I was not compensated for them in any way.

As the cover of the book reads, you will become an "Instant Expert" of Whiskey once you have finished reading this book.

Inside you will find a wide range of information about Whiskey:

You will learn everything from, "What's in Whiskey?", "Why it's spelled Whiskey sometimes and others just Whisky".

You will learn about the different types of whiskey (I honestly didn't realize how many different types there were!), different barrels tried and used as well as Glencairn Glasses.

** There are also a few whiskey cocktail recipes in the back, a few of which I have not yet made (stay tuned for those).

If you are a whiskey enthusiast or just simply enjoy a good whiskey and want to learn more about it, this is a good informational book to check out.

This book retails at $16.95 and can be purchased through the publisher's site, Princeton Architectural Press.  You can also search amazon for this book ** and find for a bit less.

I must say that I did learn quite a few things about whiskey from this book.

I also think the yellow elastic band connected to the book is an awesome touch.

This book is a nice smaller sized 144 page informational book that I will enjoy showing to friends and family who are curious about......well just about anything whiskey.

Thank You for sending over this book for me to read through!  I appreciate it!!

French Toast

4 shots out of 5

These last  two weeks have be absolutely insane for us.

Everywhere I turned there was another soccer game, baseball game, softball game, Tae Kwon Do class or something to do for the end of the school year.  Plus we have a Middle School graduate this year which makes things that much more exciting.  We're also going to be attending a family reunion soon and then we will be planning a graduation party as well.

So much to do, so little time!  But I did have time to quickly buy our sons high school summer reading book, Mythology by Edith Hamilton from amazon, phewph...one thing down.

Just typing all of that out exhausts me!

A friend of mine gave me some of his Fireball Whisky a while ago so that I could make tonight's........OK, so this afternoons cocktail.

I had every intention to make it within a day or two after he gave it to me.....and then came the sickness that swept through this house.

Now that I have my taste buds back in working order I decided, what better time to make and have a cocktail then now!

I gave today's cocktail 4 shots out of 5.

This is a tasty shooter for sure.  None of the three ingredients over powered the other in this shooter at all.

I thought that if any of them would over power the others it would be the Fireball Whisky, but no it was a nice calm cinnamon taste that complimented the others quite well.

Here is a photo of the end result:

Old Fashioned

Day 104

Old Fashioned
3 shots out of 5

Tonight I'm turning back the clock to make a cocktail that our Grandparents.......probably even their parents enjoyed to sip on.

This cocktail was so popular, the cocktail glass that they made it in became named after it.

I gave tonight's cocktail 3 shots out of 5.

I was torn on how to rate this cocktail.  I'm not a straight whiskey fan by far......I initially thought of giving it a 2.5.

If I had a bigger taste for whiskey it would have gotten a much higher rating.

I did like it more then a 2.5 if I took little sips (which if you know me, that's something I "rarely" do).

I think this cocktail is supposed to be sipped in little sips (the way I'm sipping it), therefore I decided to rate it a 3.

I had a great Memorial weekend with my family and my folks and got talking with my mom about my blog and she had asked me if I had done a Manhattan, Old Fashioned and a couple other older cocktail that I can't remember.

It got me to thinking that I need to throw some "classic" cocktails in there from time to time.

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

Here is the recipe for an Old Fashioned:

  • 1 cube of sugar (or 1 tsp. if you don't have a cube.........I didn't have a cube)
  • 2-3 dashes of Angostura bitters (I had bitters that were similar to Angostura)
  • 2 ounces of whiskey (just under a shot and a half)
  • dash of club soda (a little less then 1/4 shot)
  • 3 ice cubes
In a short cocktail glass pour in your sugar, then put your dashes of bitters on top.  Pour in your club soda and muddle them together.  Put in your ice cubes, then your whiskey and stir real well.

Here's to taking a step back and enjoying a cocktail that my Grandpa used to enjoy.

Cheers!

Irish Headlock Cocktail

Day 31

Irish Headlock
2 shots out of 5

Happy Saint Patrick's Day to all!!

Hope you remembered to wear your green today!  Since it is an Irish holiday today, I figured that I should honor that and make an Irish cocktail!

There were quite a few to choose from and finally I decided on the Irish Headlock.

I gave tonight's cocktail 2 shots out of 5, which I know most likely upsets my husband because he really liked it.

I don't really have a liking for whiskey.......sorry.

I keep sipping it and trying to like it, but it's just......I can't do it.

When I start to take a sip the baileys is the first thing I taste, so I think, hey, maybe I'm used to the flavor now and will like it...........NOPE THERE'S THE WHISKEY FLAVOR!!

Tonight's cocktail makes me make squinchy faces.

Maybe by the end of this year of cocktails I'll be used to the flavor of whiskey?  I mean I'm "starting" to tolerate gin now.......yea we'll just have to wait and see on that one.

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

Here is the recipe for the Irish Headlock:

  • 1/2 shot Irish Whiskey
  • 1/2 shot Irish Cream (such as Baileys)
  • 1/2 shot Brandy (I used cognac)
  • 1/2 shot Amaretto
In a shaker add ice, Irish Whiskey, Irish Cream, Brandy and Amaretto.  Shake your cocktail real well to mix it up real good.  Strain your cocktail into a frosted highball glass and if you enjoy whiskey........enjoy!

Cheers to Saint Patrick's Day!  Hope you all enjoy your evening!!
