5 Game Winning Super Bowl Beer Cocktails.

That's right!  Super Bowl!  Ready or not it's THIS Sunday!

Are you ready for some foooootballllll?!?!

You will be after you check out these 6 game winning beer cocktails I have for you.

For me when I think of sports in general......I think of beer.  Trust me, if I could sit down and crack open a nice cold IPA, I will be a happy camper for sure.

But.......sometimes I like to kick it up a notch and what better time to do that then Super Bowl Sunday?

So get ready to kick up your beer drinking this Sunday and classify it as a beer cocktail.  Here are my 5 delicious cocktails for you:

Combining spiced honey tequila with beer is a alternative way to enjoy your Mexican lager.

Why not celebrate game day with a
champagne and beer cocktail?

I can't think of one reason.

Think Moscow Mule, but with a tequila twist!

Half margarita, half beer.  What's not to love!

Kick up your beer drinking experience by
adding some extra heat and flavor!

Light and refreshing vodka and ginger beer cocktail.

Which ever cocktail you choose, and trust me I'm not judging you if you choose them all, I hope you enjoy the Super Bowl, or at least the Half Time Show!

Hornitos LA MAN-ZANA

Hornitos LA MAN-ZANA, tequila, lemon juice, beer, Mexican beer, Mexican lager, spiced honey tequila

**I was sent this sample of Hornitos Spiced Honey tequila without any payment.
All opinions in this post are 100% mine**

Spiced honey tequila.  Ever heard of it?  I sure hadn't until I was sent a bottle and a recipe to try it with.  What I haven't done yet (not quite sure why) is try it by itself.  I will have to do that.

When I get a recipe that mixes alcohol and beer together I usually get a little worried.  I LOVE beer.  I love a good cocktail too.  Mixing them together scares me.

I have made cocktails with beer before and some turned out really good like my Moon-a-rita and my Chavela.  Others.....not so much, like my Peachy Beer Cocktail.

This cocktail falls in between there somewhere.

It definitely was not my favorite.

To be honest, I would never order this cocktail at a bar....or make it again here.  I guess what I'm saying is that this cocktail falls closer to the Peachy Beer Cocktail then the others.

To make this cocktail you need to do it in two parts.

You pour in the tequila.

Next add the apple cider.

Then you add the lemon juice.

Shake and strain into an ice filled cocktail glass.

Finally you add the Mexican lager.

Unfortunately I can't enjoy every single cocktail I make.  Fortunately I have some more cocktail recipes that I would like to try soon!

Here's to the week being half over already!

National Lemonade Day & Recipes

National Lemonade Day
Citrus Beerade
+
More

national lemonade day, lemonade, beer

It's been a crazy August so far!

Has it been for you too.....or is it just us?

Yesterday marked our oldest's Last First Day of High School (1 in school, 3 to go).  Yup.  That's right.  We have a senior.  He had his senior portraits taken last Saturday, which was a trip.

I just can't believe that we are where we are.

This year will mark a lot of lasts for him and us, which is kinda sad.  I already warned him that I will be doing a lot of on and off crying this year so he just needs to get used to it.

I have a sneaking suspicion he already knew that though.

National Lemonade Day is this Saturday, August 20th!

I tell you, I have learned about more "National something or another Day's" ever since I started this blog.

Who knew there were SO MANY!

I was sent a couple recipes and photos of cocktails that the Hard Rock Cafe will be serving nationwide on National Lemonade Day.  I was given permission to share them with you and wanted to make one of them to tell you about as well.

Only problem was that I couldn't find the "exact" ingredients that each cocktail had.........so I improvised.

Now I don't have the cute Hard Rock Cafe mason jars they use, but I do have my own!

You can buy your own mason jars on amazon.....which I should have known, as they seem to sell everything!!

Aren't those pinwheel paper straws cute!  I just love the dollar section at Target, you never know what you'll find there!!

This is the closest I could come to Hard Rock Cafe's Shocking Shandy.  I call it Citrus Beerade.

Citrus Beerade

  • 9 ounces Shocktop Beer

  • 1/2 ounce tangerine rum

Here are the two cocktails that Hard Rock Cafe will be serving nationwide this Saturday.

Shocking Shandy

  • 1/2 ounce Bacardi Orange Rum
  • 1 bottle of Shock Top Belgian Wheat Beer
  • 1 orange wedge for garnish
Instructions
Fill mason jar with ice, lemonade and rum, and top with Shock Top Belgian Wheat Beer. Garnish with a speared orange wedge.

There you have it!  You can either head to your local Hard Rock Cafe on Saturday to try one of their two lemonade cocktails for National Lemonade Day, or you can make them and/or mine at home!

Whatever you choose to do, make sure you have fun doing it and enjoy the weekend!

Irish Car Bomb

Irish Car Bomb
5 shots out of 5

St. Patrick's Day, Irish Car Bomb, Irish Car Bomb photo, Irish Car Bomb picture, Irish Car Bomb image, Irish Car Bomb recipe

With St. Patrick's Day vastly approaching, I thought it would be a good time to give you a new "Irish" cocktail to add to the list of possible drinks for Sunday.

Last year on St. Patrick's Day we went out to celebrate a friends birthday.  We started the night with a pre-party here by having a few cocktails as well as some jello shots (not a good idea for me).  This year, I promise, I will not be drinking even a fraction of the amount I drank last year.

I gave tonight's cocktail 5 shots out of 5.

Before anyone says "Hey, that's not how you make an Irish Car Bomb", let me just tell you, that's how we make them at our house.

I totally get that a more "traditional" way to do is is to fill the shot glass half way with Bailey's and then float the other half with Irish Whiskey.  We like it the way I made it here and that is why I wanted to share our way with you.

This is a delicious, fun cocktail to drink.......but let me warn you of the correct way to drink it.

Once your pour your beer in the glass and drop your shot into it, your one MAIN goal is to CHUG THAT PUPPY DOWN faster then you've EVER chugged down a beer before. Why?  Ha ha, well let me tell you.  The longer the Bailey's sits in your beer (and believe me it won't take long) the more it curdles.......yes I said curdles.  My advice to you is to drink it all as fast as you can with your eyes closed so that you really have no clue what's going on inside your glass.

Here is our recipe for an Irish Car Bomb:

  • 1 can Guinness stout
  • 1 1/2 oz Bailey's Irish Cream

In a tall glass, pour your beer down the side to minimize your amount of foam.  Fill up your shot glass with Baileys.  Hold your beer in your preferred drinking hand and with your other hand drop in your shot glass that is filled with Baileys.  IMMEDIATELY chug your cocktail!!

Here's to St. Patrick's Day!  A day where drinking is smiled upon!!

Cheers!!

Flaming Dr. Pepper

Day 366

Flaming Dr. Pepper
3 shots out of 5

flaming dr. pepper

WOW!!!!!!!

Can you believe it?

My year long challenge has officially come to an end!

I have made, photographed, tried and blogged about THREE HUNDRED AND SIXTY SIX (seemed more dramatic in all caps) cocktails.  WOW, that's an accomplishment I must say.

I want to send a special Thank You out to my family who has allowed me to have my "cocktail time" every night so that I can do this.  Also to Stephanie who gave me this idea and cheered me along the entire way!  I definitely want to Thank all of you who have been with me since day 1, those of you who have found me somewhere along the way and those of you who have sent in your favorite recipes (I do still have a few more that have been sent in and will do my best to get to them soon).  Without all of you, this sure would have been a boring challenge.  Thank You!!

I gave tonight's cocktail 3 shots out of 5.

I wanted to go out on fire (kinda like Katniss and Peeta) and decided on the Flaming Dr. Pepper.

I found the recipe at Matador Network and did my best to capture it's flame on my camera.  They are right, this cocktail does more or less taste like Dr. Pepper.  It tastes more like it while it's still warm though I must say, so if you are going to make it, DRINK UP!  But please put out the flame before you do so.  This was a fun cocktail to make.....quite easy really.  I will leave you with a few sequenced photos of this cocktail to look at.

Here is a photo of the end result:

Flaming Dr. Pepper

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 1/2 ounces amaretto
  • 1 ounce Bacardi 151 rum
  • 1 bottle/can of beer

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Fill you shot glass first with the amaretto, then with the rum. Carefully place your shot glass in the center of a cocktail glass and fill that glass with beer just up until it hit the rim of the shot glass.
  2. Take a lighter and light the top of the liquid inside the shot glass on fire (please be careful and do not stand directly over your flame). Let your flame burn for a couple minutes and then blow it out and carefully drink it up.

I simply can not believe that this year is over.  I will not stop here, so please continue to send in your favorite cocktail recipes or just shoot me an email to say hi.

Bohemia Michelada

Day 361

Bohemia Michelada
3 shots out of 5

I was given product to sample.  I was not paid for this post and all views and opinions are my own.

I received a six pack of Bohemia beer in the mail on Saturday so that I could try out one of their signature cocktails.  I was very excited when it came, as I do love beer!

I have found that over my years of beer drinking, my tastes have widened and I now like a lot of beers that I had sworn off in the past.

I am quite proud of myself for that I must say.

I gave tonight's cocktail 3 shots out of 5.

When I was reading the ingredients for this cocktail, it kind of sounded like a Bloody Mary but instead of the tomato juice you substitute it with beer.

Quite interesting I must say.

I gave this cocktail a 3 because the flavor of the cocktail was quite good, then only thing that I could not handle was the HEAT from the other ingredients.  My husband on the other hand (who likes spicy things) really likes this cocktail, especially the heat.

I will say that the Bohemia beer that they had sent me is pretty darn good!  It is a lighter beer with a taste all of it's own.

This beer actually has more flavor then some of your light beers and if I had a choice of Bohemia or Corona, I'd choose this one hands down.

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is the recipe for a Bohemia Michelada:

  • 1 bottle of Bohemia beer
  • 2 oz lime juice
  • 1/4 tsp worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp hot sauce
  • kosher salt (I used my margarita salt)
  • a lime wedge

Wet the rim of your beer glass with your lime wedge and rim it with kosher salt.  Next pour in your lime juice, worcestershire sauce and hot sauce.  Fill the rest of the glass with Bohemia beer and stir to mix, be careful not to go crazy stirring so that you don't get your beer to foam up.

Thank You to Veronica for sending me out this six pack of beer!  My husband is currently finishing off this Bohemia Michelada as I type, he REALLY likes it!

Cheers!!
