Butternut Rum Lifesaver

Is it Friday yet?  Another long...short week.  Our oldest had Monday off for Presidents Day, our second oldest had last Friday as well as Monday off.  These shorter weeks are always screwing me up.  I never know what day it is, I ALWAYS feel like I'm forgetting something and then the weeks over.

Our daughters birthday party was a success last weekend.  We made our own Frozen decorations.......which if I do say so myself.....pretty much rocked.  They weren't anything snazzy, but we made them which makes them THAT much more special.  Baseball is in full swing (total pun intended there), our oldest is trying out for the Frosh/Soph baseball team at his highschool.  All of the students trying out play together until the regular league season games start, which is when they make their final cuts from the team.  He missed the first week and a half of tryouts due to playing on the Freshman basketball team, but he did get 5 days of tryouts in before their first scrimmage on Tuesday.  He was the lead off hitter and played infield the entire game.  First non-league game is Tuesday and the first league game is Friday.....so I guess we'll find out for sure if he's on the team by Friday.

It has been a while since I have made a cocktail (shocking I know).  I have been so busy with lots of other little things that have diverted my time.....but I decided that today is a day for a shooter.  I found this one at Food.com and knew I had to try it.  GLAD I did!  Giving this one 5 shots out of 5 for sure.  This little shooter tastes like a Butternut Rum Lifesaver for sure!  It is quite delicious and that whipped cream on the top adds the perfect finishing touch.  This is a shooter you should try for sure.

Here is the recipe for a Butternut Rum Lifesaver:

  • 1/2 ounce Baileys Irish Cream
  • 1/2 ounce butterscotch schnapps
  • 1/2 ounce coconut rum
  • 1/2 ounce pineapple juice
  • whipped cream
In a shaker, add ice and all of the ingredients above except for the whipped cream.  Shake and strain into a shot glass.  Top with whipped cream and enjoy!

Here is a photo of the end result:

Lifesaver, Baileys, Irish cream liqueur, butterscotch schnapps, Malibu rum, coconut rum, pineapple juice

  1. We didn't think it was quite like a lifesaver (although to be fair, we haven't eaten this flavor of lifesaver in several years so perhaps we have forgotten it) and it won't become a "go to" drink, but it was enjoyable and rather fit my evening of trying new (and slightly odd) recipes. We drank this while I cooked a dinner that I will never make again. :)
