Cranberry Gimlet

Thank You to Bombay Sapphire Gin for sponsoring this post

Happy Monday!

Today is officially the very last day of June, which means at midnight this year is officially half over.

Would you hate me if I told you that I have already started my Christmas shopping?

You know.....I need to start it early and do a little every month, that way we spread out the costs for all of the presents.  Otherwise we are stuck with a very scary bill in December.

I was sent a link to a video of a competition that Bombay Sapphire holds every year for 3 years running now.  The competition is called "The World's Most Imaginative Bartender".  So the imaginative part got me wondering......what kind of ingredients are they using?

I have only seen the winners recipe and based on one of his ingredients......I can only imagine what the other contenders used.

The winner created a cocktail he called "Paper Anniversary" and the ingredients were Bombay Sapphire, Homemade paper syrup and Salt solution.

Now that's pretty imaginative!  What a fun competition!  The fact that the had finalist from all different countries was pretty darn cool I thought!

Here is a look at the video if you wanted to take a look at the final contestants:

OK, so I got inspired!

Well not inspired enough to create my own ingredients, but enough to create a new cocktail.
In the past I have done a Gin Gimlet and a Raspberry Gimlet and have really enjoyed them!
That's why I wanted to create a different Gimlet with an ingredients that I know I like.  This cocktail is really good!  It's actually....almost gone now!

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is my recipe for a Cranberry Gimlet:

  • 1 1/2 ounces gin
  • 1 1/2 ounces cranberry cocktail juice
  • 1/2 ounce lime juice
In a shaker, add  ice and the three ingredients above.  Shake and strain into a martini glass and enjoy!

Here's to wishful thinking that maybe one day I'll be The Most Imaginative Bartender of the Year!

Cheers!!

  1. Paper syrup?!? That's just plain weird. Yours sounds far superior and I might have to pick up a small bottle of cranberry juice. I always have Bombay Sapphire :)
