Dirty Swinger

Day 195

Dirty Swinger
3 shots out of 5

It's Tuesday night!

Softball tonight, yeay!

Since it's softball night, I'm once again going to go with a shooter.

Something quick and easy so that I can get out there on the field and play!

Have I mentioned that we are sponsored by our local Irish Pub?

One guess where we go after our games!

I gave tonight's cocktail 3 shots out of 5.

This shooter was OK.

It didn't make me cringe or make that crazy alcohol puckered up face at all.

It actually had a little bit of flavor, but not a huge burst of flavor like you would expect of a multi-ingredient shooter.

I was a little disappointed with it, but gave it a 3 because it could totally be a penalty shot in one of many drinking games.

If you are up for trying some of my shooters, I would definitely try some that I rated higher before you go for this one.

Hidden Grapefruit

Day 135

Hidden Grapefruit
4 shots out of 5

Hello Malibu Mango Rum!

Nice to see you again!

It's been a while.

I'm excited about using this rum again.

I have to admit, back in the days when I was a Vodka Cran girl (ha ha, you know like 135 days ago), I honestly did not get flavored vodkas and rums.

I thought they were silly and pointless.

I mean sure your vodka tastes like blueberries, but come on, just pour some blueberry juice (I don't even know if they make blueberry juice.......it's just the first flavor that came to mind) in with your vodka and call it a day.

BOY WAS I WRONG!!

I gave tonight's cocktail 4 shots out of 5.

This is a nice refreshing cocktail!  I forgot about how good cranberry juice can be in a cocktail........guess I took my anti-vodka cran's pretty seriously!

The chilled glass makes it taste even that much better!

I am really enjoying this cocktail and think I will make it again.......if not tonight, very soon!

It's such a simple cocktail too, LOVE IT!

A Tropical Dream

Day 127

A Tropical Dream
4 shots out of 5

I got myself a bottle of Malibu Coconut Rum with Mango Liqueur at my local grocery store recently and tonight is the night to try it!

I like love Malibu Coconut Rum and I do like the flavor of mango, so I thought this would be a good buy!

I gave tonight's cocktail 4 shots out of 5.

I can taste feel the alcohol in this cocktail!

It is warming up my insides and making me smile.

This cocktail definitely needs to be chilled....what I mean by that is, when your husband runs the dishwasher with your large cocktail shaker in it before you realize what's happening and you can't use it to make tonight's cocktail, you'll need to stir it up in a large glass with ice vigorously and then strain it into a tall cocktail glass filled 3/4 of the way up with ice.

For me mostly all of my cocktails need to be chilled.  I just can't drink a warm cocktail.

Unless it's supposed to be warm of course.

Actually no.

Either a cocktail should be chilled or hot.

If a cocktail is warm it's either because you waited too long to enjoy your freshly shaken cocktail, or you let your hot cocktail cool down too much and now it's just warm.  Yuck.

I am drinking and enjoying this cocktail......but it's getting a little on the "not chilled enough" side which isn't good.....hmmmm.....bottoms up I guess!

Here is a photo of the end result:

a tropical dream cocktail, vanilla vodka, malibu rum with mango, coconut rum, banana schnapps, orange juice, pineapple juice

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

Here is the recipe for A Tropical Dream:

  • 1 oz vanilla vodka
  • 1 oz Malibu Rum with Mango
  • 1 oz banana schnapps
  • 1 oz coconut rum
  • 2 oz orange juice
  • 2 oz pineapple juice
I realized half way through making this cocktail that I should have halved the ingredients....oh well.

In a shaker add ice and all ingredients.  Shake everything up real good.  Strain it into a tall cocktail glass and enjoy!

Here's to always making sure that you have your cocktail shaker with you when it's cocktail time!

Cheers!!
