Christmas Wish

I was sent a bottle of Smirnoff Vodka Holiday Ornament Bottle to sample.  I was not paid for my opinion.  All views and opinions are my own.

It's been a while since I've used pomegranate juice in a cocktail.

Un-Excusable!!

Time to break that cycle and give you a fun pomegranate cocktail!

Smirnoff sent me this cute little ornament bottle of vodka!  What a fun festive shape!

OK, so I had recently bought some pomegranate juice at the store knowing that I needed to make some sort of holiday cocktail with it.

What have I not mixed with pomegranate juice before?

Godiva white chocolate liqueur of course!

I thought this would be a fun yet different mixture to try.

So in went the vodka from the cute little ornament bottle.

Next was the pomegranate juice.

Lastly I added the white chocolate liqueur.

It's that simple!

It creates a creamy looking cocktail that's fun to drink!

Simple right?

Blood Sample

Halloween cocktails shots, blood sample, vanilla vodka, pomegranate juice, plastic syringe

There is only 6 more days until Halloween.

Not sure how that happened, but apparently it did.

My girls are set costume-wise...........and actually have been for a month or so now.

Nothing bloody or gory.  They are actually going to be Mal from Disney's Descendants and Abbey Bominable from Monster High.

Our oldest only dresses up on Halloween night when him and his friends scare trick or treaters in front of the house.

It's actually kind of cool, because him and a good friend of his set up this Haunted Garage/Driveway/Front Yard deal.  It's got fog, body parts, black lights and more.

The two of them, along with some other recruits dress up as all of the scary guys in different movies like Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, Texas Chain Saw Massacre (yes they have an actual chainsaw.....minus the chain), etc. and just walk around.......follow people.......scare the crap out of the older kids.....like I said, it's fun!

Our youngest son (who's 12 and almost as tall as me, gasp) still has no clue of what to be, so we're working on that!

I have seen others do shooters with plastic syringes before and have always wanted to do it too.  I logged onto Amazon and ordered these plastic syringes to make my shots in.

I didn't realize that they came with little caps to cover the end if needed.  I didn't need them because the shot stayed inside just fine.

I just bought a bottle of the POM pomegranate juice at the store.  I just love that they come in these smaller bottles because whenever I buy the bigger ones I always end up having to dump some because they don't get used.

Yes, I am an expiration date queen, just ask my husband......folks.......friends........kids.........yea they all know.

I created an easy to make, especially in a large batch cocktail that looks like blood in a syringe and tastes delicious!

Halloween cocktails shots, blood sample, vanilla vodka, pomegranate juice, plastic syringe

How fun are these to pass out at a Halloween party?  Bummer it's on a Monday this year.  You could make them all up ahead of time, stick them in the fridge and pass them out when needed.......which at our parties is all the time!

Why not try a Blood Sample?  You'll be glad you did!!

TMNT Raphael

TMNT
Raphael

TMNT Raphael

My life has been crazy over the past couple weeks.

It really has.

We had a non-stop week last week which had me going every single day, which was both physically and emotionally draining.  We had some hard times and then a double amazing ending (which was more then needed)!

This weekend added to the emotions as our oldest niece graduated from high school on Saturday!

Her and our oldest son are 2 months apart in age, yet those two months divided them in school years as the cut off was smack dab in the middle of both of their birthdays.

That means we get to be emotional this year as well as next year (Disclaimer: I'm going to be emotional for this ENTIRE year knowing that he will be doing all of his "lasts" this upcoming year).

My husband and I as well as our kids are HUGE Super Hero fans.

We love Marvel and DC both, no discrimination here!

We watch Arrow, Flash, Super Girl, Agent Carter & Legends of Tomorrow.  Arrow was the first show to be aired and we just think Stephen Amell is great.

Which is why when we found out that he is playing Casey Jones in TMNT2 we decided to FINALLY watch TMNT so that when part 2 comes out we can watch it.

In all honesty we never really wanted to watch TMNT.......didn't think it was going to be all that good.  Now we have an excuse to watch it and give it a fair review!

The upcoming movie gave me an idea to make a cocktail for each of the turtles, and Casey Jones of course!

Here is my first installment of the Ninja Turtles cocktail.  I begin with Raphael.  He is a stubborn, angry turtle and with a fire like that I turned to my bottle of Fireball Whisky to create this cocktail.

Don't forget to check out my other turtle cocktails: TMNT Michelangelo, TMNT Leonardo, TMNT Donatello as well as my Ninja Turtle cocktail and Hockey Stick.

Here is my recipe for a TMNT Raphael:

TMNT Raphael

  • 1 ounce Fireball Whisky
  • 1 ounce coconut rum
  • 1 1/2 ounces pomegranate juice
  • 1/2 ounce grenadine

Have you watched the first movie?  What did you think?  Are you going to watch the second one?

I'm looking forward to watching them both.  I grew up watching their cartoon and loved it!

Cheers to the Ninja Turtles!!

Pomegranate Gimlet

Pomegranate Gimlet

First off, Happy Friday!

This week started off s...l...o...w, and then all of the sudden it was Thursday!

That's fantastic!

It was an action packed week, I accomplished a LOT this week between "Spring-ish Cleaning" the house, running errands for me, running errands for my mom and baseball and softball games.........wow, just typing that all out makes me tired.  Yea........it was a long week.

I got to have coffee with a couple Mom-Friends this morning which was super enjoyable.  We "try" to do it a couple times a month.....doesn't always work out, but I super enjoy it when we are able to do it.

OH WAIT..........I didn't tell you yet that our oldest is going to.......PROM!

Yes, prom.

Yes, we are old enough to have a (gasp) Junior in High School.  I know I am going to be a mess tomorrow night as I "try" to take pictures of him and his date.  I am trying to mentally prepare myself for it.....but I don't think that all of the preparation in the world will make me ready for it.

(Pssstt........don't forget to enter in to win a pair of awesome silicone, unbreakable wine glasses here)

We had a couple sprinkles here today, which brought in some clouds and some cold air.

For some reason that made me want to make a cocktail.....hmmm, go figure......it's almost like I look for "any" reason to make a cocktail.

I bought a little bottle of POM at the store because I honestly haven't in quite some time and thought I was long overdue for a POM cocktail.  I also realized that I haven't used gin in quite a while on my blog either, which made me decide to change both of those INSTANTLY.

Now that I like gin, I was excited to create something new with it.

Our weekend is filled with baseball and softball games as well as a prom.  I hope yours is filled with fun and cocktails!

Pomegrante Margarita

Day 109

Pomegranate Margarita
4 shots out of 5

We had a BBQ last night and I have to say that my Bahama Mama was an absolute hit!

Guys and Girls both liked it, which was nice.  Some even came back for seconds.

I have a feeling that cocktail will be made many time in the future.

I gave tonight's cocktail 4 shots out of 5.

It's a pretty good Margarita.

I found the recipe online and cut back on the amount of tequila I used from the original recipe.......I just couldn't see 2 whole shots of tequila mixed into this margarita.

Bleh!!

The first sip was quite......tart.

After the margarita had sit for a little bit, the tartness wasn't so strong and I was able to enjoy it a bit more.

I want to try this margarita with my blueberry pomegranate juice sometime in the future.......maybe with a little less lime juice too.

All in all, it's not a bad cocktail, especially when the tartness calms down a bit.

I always like a good pomegranate cocktail.

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is the recipe for a Pomegranate Margarita:

  • 1 shot pomegranate juice
  • 1 1/2 shots tequila
  • 1/2 shot triple sec
  • 1 shot lime juice

In a blender add 1 cup of ice, pomegranate juice, tequila, triple sec and lime juice.  Blend everything together really well so that there is no trace of ice anywhere.  Pour and enjoy!

Here's to one more week of school for 2 of my 4 kids, then a whole summer of fun........and cocktails!

Cheers!!

Island Cosmo

Day 106

Island Cosmo
5 shots out of 5

I have been wanting to do a Cosmo........but just haven't found a good recipe for one.

We had tried one a while back and didn't like it, so I vowed that when I do this blog, I will not post a cosmo until I find a good recipe for it.

That's where tonight's cocktail comes in.

Now I know this isn't the original cosmo, but hey......I wouldn't be The Cocktail Lady if I couldn't mix it up a bit (pun definitely intended).

I gave tonight's cocktail 5 shots out of 5.

I really like this cocktail.

I told my husband that the Island Cosmo is very yummy and very dangerous.

I got this recipe from the Malibu website.

The rum and citrus vodka together make a very yummy taste, and I like the fact that they use pomegranate juice instead of cranberry juice.

I think "someone" should definitely bring a bottle of the Smirnoff citrus vodka to the BBQ on Saturday......hint hint.........wink wink........I really think that would be a good idea!

This cocktail will most definitely be on my list of cocktails to make and enjoy one night real soon!!

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is the recipe for Island Cosmo:

  • 1 shot coconut rum
  • 1/3 shot citrus vodka
  • 1/3 shot lime juice
  • 1/2 shot pomegranate juice

Thank You Malibu for this fabulous cocktail recipe!  I am enjoying this cocktail and know that I will enjoy another one very soon!

Mango Pomarita

Day 83

Mango Pomarita
5 shots out of 5

It was a super hot day today and this evening is pretty darn warm itself, only way to fix that was to pull out the blender!

I found this great recipe for a Frozen Pomarita posted and had to try it!

I do have POM juice in the fridge, but I also have 2 other variations of the POM juice as well.

One is mango and the other is blueberry.

I couldn't decide which one to try so I asked my husband "Mango or Blueberry" and of course his response was "Mango!".

Therefore I changed the name since mine has a different ingredient in it and named it Mango Pomarita.

I gave tonight's cocktail 5 shots out of 5.

YES 5!

Amazing......I know.

I don't mind the tequila taste in this margarita (obviously by my rating, right?).

I think I will also have to try the blueberry version some time VERY soon as well though.

This cocktail has a good mix of all of its ingredients and has definitely won my vote!

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

Here is the recipe for Mango Pomarita:

  • 1 shot pomegranate mango juice
  • 1 shot clear tequila
  • 1 shot triple sec
  • 3/4 shot lime juice
  • 1 1/2 shots simple syrup (scary I know, but it TOTALLY works!)

In a blender add 1 cup of ice, pomegranate mango juice, tequila, triple sec, lime juice and simple syrup.  Blend until all of the ice is gone and enjoy!

Yet another cocktail that proves me wrong by showing me that all tequila isn't bad!  I think I like the white/clear tequila TONS more then the yellow/golden tequila, so I guess that helps.

Cheers!!
