Chocolate Covered Marshmallow

Originally posted in November of 2013.  Reposted for National Toasted Marshmallow Day.

Who doesn't love a chocolate covered marshmallow?  This cocktail is light and tastes delicious!

We made it!

Oh I honestly wasn't sure if we would, but it is finally Friday!

Apparently the terrible 2's do not end exactly when the 2-year old turns three.....

Never the less, it is Friday and today the Make A Wish Foundation has turned San Francisco into Gotham City for a 5-year old boy who has leukemia.

Today he is going around town saving a woman from the cable car tracks, saving Lou Seal (our SF Giants mascot), fighting The Riddler and The Penguin!

How fun!

Things like this warm my heart.

After my last two cocktails which were flops, I decided to have a go at it on my own.
I thought chocolate would be a good start.....oh maybe a chocolate rimmed martini glass? (haven't done a rimmed cocktail glass in a while).  I looked through my vodkas and noticed that I haven't used the marshmallow one in a while either, so there you have it.

I decided to create a Chocolate Covered Marshmallow.

This cocktail is pretty good.

It is light and easy to drink......good thing?

Bad thing?

Ah, who cares, it's Friday!

I am really enjoying my cocktail though.

Tomorrow our newly turned three year old will be celebrating her birthday with family, which is almost too much for her to handle in the excitement category.

Then on Monday our girls will be getting (as long as the shipping doesn't take longer then that) their very own bunk bedmore excitement alert!

I sure hope that I can last until then!

Here is my recipe for a Chocolate Covered Marshmallow:

  • 1 1/2 ounces marshmallow vodka
  • 1 1/2 ounces chocolate liqueur
  • 1/2 ounce cream

  • chocolate shavings

Rim a martini glass with chocolate shavings.  In a shaker, add ice, marshmallow vodka, chocolate liqueur, cream and milk.  Shake and strain into chocolate shaving rimmed martini glass.  Sprinkle more chocolate shavings on top.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!  Try a new cocktail!

Cheers!!

Eggnog & Coffee

Day 313

Eggnog & Coffee
4 shots out of 5

It's Christmas Eve!

The kids are all dressed (which wasn't exactly easy.....one of the kids kept telling us he was ready as he was wearing his shorts and Mario shirt) and once this cocktail is done we'll be ready to celebrate.

I gave tonight's cocktail 4 shots out of 5.

I had found a similar recipe online and tried it and it tasted like.......nothing.

Back to the drawing board......using the same ingredients because they sounded good.

This eggnog cocktail is pretty good, it's husband approved as well so that's always a good thing!

If you enjoy eggnog and kahlua I think you will absolutely enjoy this cocktail.

To those of you who celebrate Christmas, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas Eve.

Here is my recipe for an Eggnog & Coffee:

  • 4 1/2 oz eggnog
  • 1 oz light rum
  • 1 oz kahlua
  • shaved chocolate for garnish

In a shaker, add ice and all of the ingredients above except for the chocolate.  Shake and strain into a snifter glass with a cocktail strainer because your regular shaker top will not let the eggnog flow that quickly at all.  Garnish with your shaved chocolate if you wish.

Here's to inventing an eggnog cocktail.  Here's also to realizing that eggnog cocktails pretty much rock!

Cheers!!

Vanilla Christmas Dream

Day 306

Vanilla Christmas Dream
3 shots out of 5

Last week of school for the kids, holy excitement Batman!!

What's even better?

Friday is a minimum day!

Wowzers!

We just got Madagascar 3 from Netflix, so my husband and the kids are watching the "extras" while I blog.

I gave tonight's cocktail 3 shots out of 5.

I had found a cocktail online that used regular vodka, and I made the decision to substitute it with vanilla vodka and amend the name a bit and change the garnish.

This cocktail is pretty good.

The fact that 1/3 of the ingredients is cream makes me nervous....I just know my tummy will be doing flips and cartwheels here in a bit.

If you enjoy the taste of amaretto, I think you will like this cocktail because the amaretto is the one ingredient that I can taste the most of.

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here's to 4 more days of school for my kids and then some serious family time together!!

White Christmas

Day 300

White Christmas
5 shots out of 5

Dr. Seuss's The Lorax came from Netflix today, so the house is a buzz!

It's time for dinner and a movie, but first, I need to tell you about tonight's cocktail and how fabulous it is!!  I found it (yes another one) at about.com.

Today started off kinda crappy and I must say this cocktail has MORE than made up for it.

I gave tonight's cocktail 5 shots out of 5.

I have got to say that I am totally enjoying some of these eggnog cocktails.

I'm actually enjoying them a whole lot more then I EVER thought I would.......but isn't that kind of the theme of my blog?

I have never tried Southern Comfort before (not that I'm aware of).  I thought it was just another bourbon or whiskey, but no!  It actually has fruit flavors, right up MY alley!!

These three very simple ingredients are amazing together, sooo amazing, that when I gave my husband a sip, he immediately asked if I was going to drink that.

When I told him he can have it and I'll make myself another, he got all big eyed and happy......then I told him I'd give his a double.

Oh my!

Was it Christmas morning already?

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is the recipe for a White Christmas:

  • 4 oz eggnog
  • 1/2 oz Godiva White Chocolate Liqueur
  • 1 oz Southern Comfort
  • chocolate shavings for garnish

In a brandy snifter (yes Marisa I got it right this time, ha), add all of your ingredients except the chocolate shavings.  Stir it up good and then sprinkle your chocolate shavings on top. Just that simple and oh so delicious!!

This cocktail is a must try, especially for those of you who love eggnog (Lisa).

Cheers!!
