Kool Aid

Kool Aid
5 shots out of 5

Happy Monday everyone!

It was a fun filled weekend here.......well except for yesterday's baseball game that ended in the other team cheating to win and a yelling match and an almost fight.....yea that part wasn't good.

The rest of the weekend pretty much rocked though!

This school year is a sneaky sneakerton.  I simply can not believe that we're coming into the last month of school here pretty soon.

This year, especially for me, has gone by quite fast because once this school year is over our oldest will be starting (gulp) high school in the fall!

I didn't think that day would be here so soon.

I gave today's cocktail 5 shots out of 5.

Today is super hot and when I found this Kool Aid shooter here I knew I had to give it a try.

Yes I am aware that it is not the same thing as an ice cold glass of Kool Aid, but just the name was enough to reel me in.

This shooter is very very smooth and easy to drink.  It does not exactly taste like Kool Aid, but it really doesn't matter.

The amaretto was noticeable in this shooter which for a split second reminded me of my Hawaiian Punch.

Not that they taste the same, but they do remind me of each other.

All in all this was a good shooter and it allowed me to use the Kool Aid packet in the photo to make a pitcher of Kool Aid as a surprise for the kids today.

Here is the recipe for a Kool Aid shooter:

  • 1/2 oz midori
  • 1/2 oz amaretto
  • 3/4 oz cranberry juice

In a shot glass pour in your midori and amaretto.  Fill the rest with cranberry juice (my shot glass was a little bigger so I was able to put in 3/4 oz).  Give it a quick stir.

Here's to a hot day and according to my phone, an EXTRA hot week ahead!

Cheers!!

Summertime Splash

Day 362

Summertime Splash
5 shots out of 5

Peach and lemonade make this cocktail the perfect mix for a warm summer day...or night.

I have been loving these nice warm days!

They make me want to sit outside and warm my skin and drink cocktails all day!

Since I enjoyed my Summertime Breeze that I had created the other day so much, I needed to find out how it would taste if I amended it a little bit.  I guess I am feeling adventurous.

I gave today's cocktail 5 shots out of 5.

Making this cocktail with vodka goes to show that it does not matter whether you put in rum or vodka, you still can not taste the alcohol.

Which means that this cocktail is one of those sneaky cocktails where you do not think you are drinking too much alcohol and then BAM......you are feeling pretty darn good!

I would think you can make either version of this cocktail ahead of time in a pitcher (without ice) and then when it's time to serve it, stir it up WELL (to get the puree mixed in) before you pour some in a shaker with ice.

Summertime Breeze

Day 360

Summertime Breeze
5 shots out of 5

It's Saturday!

It is a beautiful day out which makes me long for the summer.

Since it is such a nice day I decided to create a nice cocktail to go along with it.  When I am done with today's blog I am going to make another one and go sit out in the backyard and enjoy it.

I gave today's cocktail 5 shots out of 5.

Boy is this a refreshing cocktail.

The lemonade and peach puree go SO well together it's amazing!

The scary thing about it is the fact that I do not taste the alcohol inside of it.....what.......so......ever!

This would be a good cocktail to have at a summer barbecue for sure.  It's a really amazing color to which in my eyes makes it taste that much better as well.

Even though I only have 6 more cocktails to go after today to complete my year, I am not stopping there.

I won't be posting each and every day, but I will still be here so if you have any favorite cocktail recipes that you would like me to try, please send them into me.

Sunday Afternoon

Day 229

Sunday Afternoon
3.5 shots out of 5

Sunday Afternoon is a refreshing low alcohol cocktail that has a beautiful color.

OK, OK, I know......it's not Sunday.

I'm a day off.....I know.

Once I found this cocktail I didn't want to have to wait a week to make it.

Problem is not only are my eyeballs sweating right now, but my eyeballs sweat is sweating too!

Here comes our crazy late summer here in California!

I gave tonight's cocktail 3.5 shots out of 5.

This is a very refreshing cocktail.  Another one I got from barnondrinks.

I will add it to my list of summer cocktails, like my Back Porch Breeze, MCA and Leeches.

If you like pink lemonade I think you will really enjoy this cocktail on a hot summer day......or cold winter night, whatever works.

The peach schnapps works well with the pink lemonade and the grenadine adds a little bit more flavor as well as pinkness to this cocktail.

I would definitely make this cocktail again if I had a container of pink lemonade in my fridge.

This cocktail would also be a great one in a big punch bowl for a summertime BBQ.
