Black Licorice Jellybean

Black Licorice Jellybean
2 shots out of 5

Easter is this Sunday.......totally snuck up on me, plus we're hosting dinner!

I just realized today that I have 3 days to get it all together, wowzers!

Since Easter is coming up, I'd better supply you all with a few Easter-like cocktails to choose from.

Now, I will admit that I've come a looong way with all of the different alcohols, liqueurs and mixes I have used over the past year......but Jagermeister........not yet.

I gave tonight's cocktail 2 shots out of 5.

I want to say that I have made cocktails in the past with Jagermeister and absolutely liked them, such as The Torpedo and Buttery Jager Ripple.

Tonight's cocktail's (I found it here) main ingredient is Jagermeister.......which is why I think I am not the biggest fan of it.

The vanilla vodka really didn't have a chance to really come through tonight.  I am thinking that maybe if we switched the quantities of the two ingredients, maybe then I'd like it a bit more.

Oh well.......on to find some more yummy Easter cocktails!

Here's to 3 days before Easter and a grocery shopping trip to take!

Ying Yang Shooter

Day 324

Ying Yang Shooter
2.5 shots out of 5

It's the last Friday of winter break for my kids and my husband.  One final weekend and then we are back to our normally scheduled program.  I still have 4 more days until our oldest returns from his trip and I have to say that I am doing better today then I did yesterday, but still totally miss him.

I gave tonight's cocktail 2.5 shots out of 5.  I used my new gift, Fred Cool Shooters Ice Tray (Google Affiliate Ad) frozen shot glasses, from one of my best friends for tonight's cocktail.  It was an interesting experience and totally kept the shot cold, which was nice.  Check out my new gifts from two of my best friends on my New Equipment & Supplies tab. This shooter was OK for a shooter, but would make me run away if it was an actual cocktail.  The Jager and Peppermint flavors....well they were strong and stood out quite well.  This would not be a shooter that I would order at a bar for sure.....or would make at home again, ever.

Here is the recipe for a Ying Yang Shooter:

  • 3/4 oz Jagermeister
  • 3/4 oz Rumplemints
In a shot glass pour in both ingredients.  Give it a quick stir and shoot.

Here's to my very first shooter in a frozen shot glass!

Jager Monster

Day 226

Jager Monster
2 shots out of 5

Boy it's been a long week!

Three kids sick this week and we're still going.

Our oldest daughter missed both days of Tiny Tots this week, our second oldest son missed two days of school and our youngest came down with a fever yesterday as well.

I'm ready for the sickness to be gone and our house to be germ free........or have less germs in it.

I gave tonight's cocktail 2 shots out of 5.

I asked my husband if tonight's cocktail qualifies for a "Halloween Shooter" since it has the word Monster in it.

He agreed with me, so here it is, another Halloween Shooter.

But I recommend you leave it here because it is not all that good.

I can taste a hint of the orange juice and I can definitely taste the Jagermeister.

This is not a great tasting shooter, not even a good tasting shooter......it's actually pretty blah in taste.

I would never make this shooter again, it's just not special enough to remember.

Oh well, you win some and you loose some.

Here is a photo of the end result:

Halloween cocktail, shot, Jagermeister, orange juice

Here is the recipe for a Jager Monster:

  • 1 1/2 oz Jagermeister
  • 1 oz orange juice
  • 1/4 oz grenadine
In a shaker, add ice and all of the ingredients above.  Shake it up well and strain it into your shot glass.

I guess the fact that the word Monster is in the title actually does suit this cocktail well.  It's such a monster of a shooter that I never want to try it again!

Red Headed Slut

Day 206

Red Headed Slut
2.5 shots out of 5

Happy Saturday!

2 soccer games and a baseball game later.....it's defiantly cocktail time!

Our weekends are officially chaotic.....not that they weren't before, they're just extra chaotic now.

I wouldn't have it any other way.....I actually dread the days when the kids are grown and we don't have a million things to do on the weekends....or do I?

I gave tonight's cocktail 2.5 shots out of 5.

At first I thought....hmmmm, not terribly bad......then came the aftertaste.

Ouch!

I was initially going to give this shooter a 3, but that aftertaste ruined that rating.

The fact that the Jager is the one thing I can taste the most makes me not like this shot too much.

Jager in other cocktails is good, don't get me wrong...just not this one.

The color of this shooter is crazy though, the mix of the Jager and the cranberry juice is a color all of it's own.

Here's to a well deserved cocktail hour/s on a Saturday night!

Cajer Shot

Day 188

Cajer Shot
2.5 shots out of 5

It's softball Tuesday and we're missing 3 of our players, but thankfully we have friends who love to fill in for us.

Today is a nice warm day, but unfortunately we're stuck inside as both of my girls are sick, boo.

I gave tonight's cocktail 2.5 shots out of 5.

Jager........hmmmmm.

So if you sip this making sure you get the full extent of the whipped cream.....this shooter does taste quite a bit better.

Now if you sip this and miss the whipped cream.... unfortunately the Jager takes over and, um, yuck.

The cake vodka does hold it's own enough to give this shooter a 2.5 with minimal whipped cream, but that's all I can give it.

I got this shooter, again, from the Pinnacle site.

The Torpedo

Day 123

The Torpedo
3.5 shots out of 5

Happy Father's Day to all of you Fathers, Dads, Grandpas, Papas, Uncles, Brothers, etc.

I hope you all enjoyed your day.

We had a wonderful weekend, filled with family, friends, beers and cocktails!  Back to another week off of school.

I gave tonight's cocktail 3.5 shots out of 5.

My husband and I both made a face at first when we saw a recipe for The Torpendo on the Voyant website that contained Jager.

Then we took a second and thought......you know, the chai just may mask the total effects and taste of the Jager.

I poured it, shook it, strained it and gave it a whirl........not bad!  My husband liked this one, definitely.

When you taste it, at first you get the chai taste which us super yummy.........then after a few seconds comes that Jager taste.

The chai does do a pretty good job of masking it, I must say and that is why tonight's cocktail got such a high rating.

Here is a photo of the end result:

  • 1/2 shot Voyant Chai Liqueur
  • 1/2 shot Jagermeister

Here's to a fun weekend!  Hope you all enjoyed yours as much as I enjoyed mine!!

Cheers!!

Buttery Jager Ripple

Day 100

Buttery Jager Ripple
4.5 shots out of 5

After quite a bit of thinking........going back and forth........deciding........un-deciding...........and then deciding again.

I have officially decided that "mixed" shots are classified (in my world anyways) as cocktails.

I think that if I was to pour tequila in a shot glass that wouldn't count as a cocktail, but if I am mixing ingredients, it does count.

If you go to a bar, they do sell mixed shots and consider them a smaller cocktail.......so why can't I?

I gave tonight's cocktail 4.5 shots out of 5.

I was sent this cocktail from Melissa, Thank You Melissa!!

I don't know what it is that scares me about Jagermeister.

I think what it is, is the faces that people give me when I mention the name.........you know that "Eeewwww" puckered face look.

I admit, I was a little scared to try this cocktail, even though I haven't not liked a cocktail a reader has sent me yet!

I poured it, shook it, strained it......took a deep breath and tried it.

YUM!!!!

This is a fabulous cocktail Melissa, I'm sooo glad you sent it to me!

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

Here is the recipe for Buttery Jager Ripple:

  • 1/3 shot Jagermeister
  • 1/3 shot Irish cream
  • 1/3 shot butterscotch schnapps

In a shaker, add ice, Jagermeister, Irish cream and butterscotch schnapps.  Shake up your ingredients real good and strain into a shot glass.

"Jagermeister", something about it's name made me think of my beer shaped shot glass, and I felt I needed to make tonight's cocktail in it.

Cheers!!

Liquid Cocaine

Day 64

Liquid Cocaine
2.5 shots out of 5

Tonight's cocktail is dedicated to one of my very best friends, Natalie!

Today is her birthday and she has requested that I make Liquid Cocaine on her birthday.  So here's to you Natty!

I gave tonight's cocktail 2.5 shots out of 5.

Let me explain.

This is definitely a cocktail that you sip, and let it sit on your tongue for a few seconds before swallowing.

If I was to take big sips, I would give it a 2.5.

If I was to sip it the way I believe it should be sipped.....it could rate a little higher......almost to a 3.

This cocktail does call for 100-proof peppermint schnapps, which I don't have, so I just used my regular peppermint schnapps.

The reason they ask for the 100-proof is merely for potency.

I can taste each ingredient in this cocktail as I take my slow sips and let it rest on my tongue.

I think it's a definite "get your buzz on" cocktail if that's what you're after.

My husband said that it sort of tasted like mouthwash, and I agree if you take a big swig of it and don't let it sit in your mouth.  If you are going to try this one, please don't swig it.

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

Here is the recipe for Liquid Cocaine:

  • 1 shot 151-proof rum
  • 1 shot 100-proof peppermint schnapps (or regular like I used)
  • 1 shot Jägermeister

In your shaker, add ice, rum, peppermint schnapps and Jägermeister.  Stir up your mixture very well so that they all get blended well.  Strain your cocktail into a chilled cocktail glass.

I HUGE cheers to Natalie on her birthday!  I look forward to celebrating with you!  This liquid cocaine is for you!!

Cheers!
