Paradise Punch

Paradise Punch cocktail, fruity cocktail

We have had a few really nice warm days here lately.  The weather has reminded me of fruity cocktails, which inspired me to create a brand new one!

I call this one Paradise Punch..........because seriously.......I need a vacation to Paradise right now.

Our oldest graduates in less then 2 months.  It's a trip when I think about it...kind of like "How did we get here so fast?", but then if I actually stop and think about it.....yea, it's been 18 years.........probably why I need this Paradise Punch?  Yea, definitely one of the reasons!

Did I mention that the kids are on spring break?  Do you remember when spring break actually coincided with Easter?  Yea, me either.  All four of them actually have this week off for spring break.  A week with all of my kids!  Except for the fact that my oldest is 18 and well.......yea.........I see him once in a while.

Don't get me wrong, I remember being 18.  I'm not worried, he's a good kid and he needs to flap his wings and find out what this "Being an Adult" thing is all about.

Then hopefully when he figures that out, he'll explain it to me!!  haha.

This cocktail I just created is similar to my Bahama Mama cocktail that I made quite a few years ago.  Another FANTASTIC cocktail!  I'm thinking I might just need to have a "Paradise Punch Party" for the sole reason as to make this in a big batch and enjoy it with friends!

I mean just look at that cocktail!  Can't you just taste it's deliciousness right through your screen??

Candy Corn Tini

Candy corn is and always will be a staple candy for Halloween.  I've created a Halloween cocktail that now allows you to drink your candy corn too!

Friday!  Woot Woot!  Made it......phewph.......I wasn't sure that I was going to make it to Friday this week, boy it's been a long hard week.

Now that we are here, lets have a cocktail.  Let's have 2 cocktails, shoot it's Friday bring on the booze!!

I was looking in my fridge......oh my "new" fridge (this is not the exact fridge that we bought, but it's close to it) if you were wondering!

I saw my mango puree and thought I might be able to use it to create some kind of candy corn cocktail......then I saw the peach one behind it, jackpot!  I will say that this cocktail would most likely taste better with the mango puree instead of the peach, but I was going for color and the peach is more orange then the mango.

A layered cocktail, got it.

It didn't taste amazing by far.

It didn't make me want to run to the sink and spit it out either.

The layers are thicker, so as you drink you are basically drinking from the top down.  I got half way done and decided to stir up the rest and try it that way.  All in all either way you drink it, it's not half bad.  I won't be making it again though, although it is festive so it has that going for it.

Here is a photo of the end result:

halloween cocktail, candy corn tini martini cocktail, cream of coconut, peach puree, banana liqueur, coconut rum, malibu rum

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

halloween cocktail, candy corn tini martini cocktail, cream of coconut, peach puree, banana liqueur, coconut rum, malibu rum

Here is my recipe for a Candy Corn Tini:

  • 1/2 ounce cream of coconut
  • 2 ounces peach puree
  • 1 1/2 ounces banana liqueur
  • 1/2 ounce coconut rum

In a martini glass, layer your ingredients in the order above, top to bottom.  I noticed that it took a couple minutes for the banana liqueur to separate entirely from the peach puree.  It did layer, but there was a little bit of mixing at first.

Happy Friday to you all!  Enjoy your weekend.

Cheers!!

Banana Cream Colada

Banana Cream Colada
5 shots out of 5

First off, I want to apologize for not doing something that I wanted to do......which you never knew about............but I feel I should apologize.

Today is St. Patrick's Day and I wanted to have posted some of my favorite "green" cocktails for you all to look through a couple days ago.

Then baseball games, soccer games and a double birthday party I hosted last night all got in the way.

Instead I decided that since it's such beautiful weather out today, I would pull out my blender and use one of our banana's and just create a nice blended cocktail.

I gave today's cocktail 5 shots out of 5.

This cocktail is banana-ey, so if you're not a huge banana fan you might not want to try this one.

I LOVE this one and since I was totally in the mood for banana's, I love this one even more today.

I did end up adding pineapple juice to this cocktail because at first (even for me) it was a bit too banana-ey.

In this cocktail the banana, coconut and pineapple flavors all mix pretty darn well together (which they usually do) and the vanilla ice cream gives it a bit of a creamy flavor which is nice.

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

Banana cream colada, coconut rum, malibu rum, banana, banana liqueur, pineapple juice, cream of coconut, vanilla ice cream

Here is my recipe for a Banana Cream Colada:

  • 2 oz coconut rum
  • 1 small banana
  • 1/2 oz banana liqueur
  • 1 1/2 oz pineapple juice
  • 1 oz cream of coconut
  • 1/2 C vanilla ice cream
  • 1/2 C ice

In a blender, add all of the ingredients above.  Blend until your ice is gone and everything is mixed in well.

Happy St. Patrick's Day to you all.  I hope you are wearing your green so that you don't get pinched!!

Cheers!!

Peach Colada

Day 346

Peach Colada
4 shots out of 5

Today my grandma turns 97 years old!

I'm really looking forward to celebrating her with the family for dinner tonight.

My grandma is not your average 97 year old.

Up until a few years ago she still bowled a couple times a week and she would go on trips with her group.  She doesn't do those things anymore, but she'll recall any date or detail about anything and recite them all to you.

I love my grandma, she's a lot of fun.

I gave tonight's cocktail 4 shots out of 5.

This is a good cocktail!

I found it on the Finest Call website.  I love the cream of coconut mixed with the peach in this cocktail, it's a definite winner!

This is a very nice, refreshing, fun cocktail to drink........so fun that I think I'll make another one here as soon as I'm done blogging this post!

In past cocktails I've made with peach puree, I don't remember them being terribly peachy.

This cocktail isn't terribly peachy, but the peach flavor does seem to stand out a bit more then I remember in the other cocktails.

Mango Chi Chi

Day 342

Mango Chi Chi
3.5 shots out of 5

Another school week is in full swing.  We had a holiday yesterday, so there are only four days of school this week.  I was kind of tripping out today when I was thinking that this friday I take our two year old for a check up and then next friday I register our fourteen year old or high school!  There's a range if I've ever heard one.

I gave tonight's cocktail 3.5 shots out of 5.  I still have a few of my purees left in my fridge, so I'd like to use them sooner then later.  Tonight I chose my mango puree to make a cocktail out of.  I went to the Finest Call website and found tonight's cocktail.  I liked the Chi Chi I had made, so my hopes were high for a mango version.  The recipe they gave me only filled my glass a little over half way, so I doubled it, which was enough plus extra.  This is a nice mango-ey cocktail for sure.  It's refreshing and definitely one that I would drink poolside.....or even take it out to the backyard to so that it doesn't feel like I'm home drinking an outdoor cocktail.  The ingredients blend together well....but I have to admit that the more I drink, the more the mango-ey flavor is loosing it's awesomeness.  It's becoming a little much (I just totally changed my rating from a 4 to a 3.5).

Here is the recipe for a Mango Chi Chi:

  • 2 1/2 oz vodka
  • 3 oz cream of coconut
  • 3 oz pineapple juice
  • 3 oz mango puree
  • 2 cups ice
In a blender, add all of the ingredients above.  Blend until there are no more ice chunks and the cocktail is smooth.  Pour into a hurricane glass.

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here's to being one step....or cocktail....closer to emptying out another puree bottle and gaining that much more room in my fridge!

Red & Gold Attack

Day 341

Red & Gold Attack
4.5 shots out of 5

You didn't think I'd leave it at creating only one cocktail for my Niners now did you?  My oldest son made some smoothies with some of my purees today, which gave me an idea to use one in tonight's cocktail.  Since banana is my favorite, and the Niners colors do include gold (which is very close to yellow-ish), I decided to create something with it.

I gave tonight's cocktail 4.5 shots out of 5.  I created this one on my own and decided to go with some of my yellow juices to keep with the Niners colors.  This cocktail is very scrumptious.....very scrumptious.  I can definitely taste the banana puree in this one, but the rest of the ingredients blend so well with it that it makes this a very good, cold, refreshing cocktail.  I just may make some of these on February 3rd (Superbowl Sunday) along with some of my other Forty Niners creation I made last night, Forty Niner Fever.

Here is my very own recipe for a :

  • 1 1/2 oz light rum
  • 2 oz banana puree
  • 2 oz orange juice
  • 2 oz pineapple juice
  • 1 oz cream of coconut
  • 1/4 oz grenadine
In a shaker, add ice and all of the ingredients above except for the grenadine.  Shake and pour into a tall glass filled half way with ice.  Pour your grenadine down the middle and enjoy!

Here is a photo of the end result:

Here's to another San Francisco Forty Niner created cocktail.  Can't wait until the 3rd!!

Banana SAMU Daiquiri

Day 330

Banana SAMU Daiquiri
5 shots out of 5

I liked last night's cocktail so much that I wanted to add a little something to it.  I didn't want to completely alter it as it was pretty delicious, but just change it a wee bit.  What better way to celebrate a Thursday night, then with a yummy cocktail?

I gave tonight's cocktail 5 shots out of 5.  Another winner.  As most of you know, I love banana flavor in my cocktails.  Usually I'm adding the creme de banana to them, but tonight I am tossing in a half of a ripe banana instead.  Glad I did!!  The half banana was a great addition to last night's great cocktail.  The banana cuts into the pineapple juice and becomes the dominant flavor in this cocktail.  All in all, I'm enjoying this cocktail!

Here is my recipe for a Banana SAMU Daiquiri:

  • 1 1/2 oz malibu rum
  • 1 oz pineapple juice
  • 1 oz SAMU
  • 1/2 C vanilla ice cream
  • 1/2 oz cream of coconut
  • 1/2 ripe banana
In a blender, add all of the ingredients above.  Blend until the banana and ice cream are smooth and mixed in well.

SAMU Daiquiri

Day 329

SAMU Daiquiri
5 shots out of 5

He's home, he's home!  Our oldest came home last night and I am SOOO happy to have him home again.  I can now rest easier at night and not have that "Instant Tears" emotions that happen every time I think of how far away from me he is.  Phewph, I bet I could sleep for days now!

I gave tonight's cocktail 5 shots out of 5.  Holy Moly I created an AWESOME daiquiri!  The people at SAMU were right when they wanted to market their Thai Coconut Water to the cocktail world.  These ingredients all work wonderfully together.....so wonderfully, I think I may want to make another.  I taste the pineapple in this cocktail the most, but it's a creamy cocktail thanks to the ice cream and the different coconut flavors in here, yum!!  Winner in my book, and no it's not because I created it!

Here is my recipe for a SAMU Daiquiri:

  • 1 1/2 oz Malibu rum
  • 1 oz SAMU
  • 1 oz pineapple juice
  • 1/2 C vanilla ice cream
  • 1/2 oz cream of coconut
In a blender, add all of the ingredients above.  Blend until it liquefies, pour and enjoy!

SAMU-lada

Day 327

SAMU-lada
5 shots out of 5

First day back at school.  Before I know it, this school year will be over and we'll be enjoying some of our summertime cocktails.  I decided to try my hand in creating a SAMU Thai Coconut water cocktail today, so for those of you who have won a case, or simple bought it on your own, this is for you!

I gave tonight's cocktail 5 shots out of 5.  I added, tasted, added, tasted and added and tasted again until I really liked what I was drinking.  I call it SAMU-lada and I must say it's pretty darn good!  I have made quite a few cocktails with Malibu and cream of coconut before, but adding the SAMU water was a nice twist.  This is a cool refreshing cocktail that would be perfect for a pool party, sitting on the beach, or just a regular day/night when you're feeling coconutey!

Here is my recipe for a SAMU-lada:

  • 1 1/2 light rum
  • 1/2 oz coconut rum
  • 1/2 oz cream of coconut
  • 2 oz pineapple juice
  • 1 1/2 oz SAMU
In a shaker, add ice and all of the ingredients above.  Shake and strain into a cocktail glass filled 3/4 with ice.

Mele Kalikimaka Martini

Day 299

Mele Kalikimaka Martini
5 shots out of 5

Mele Kalikimaka Martini is the perfect combination of eggnog, pineapple and coconut flavors that will make you think you're enjoying your cocktail on the beaches of Hawaii!

Another Monday.

This is the last week that my husband has of work and then he's off for three whole weeks!!

I'm sooo excited.

Especially with the holidays right around the corner, it will be nice having him home with me and the kids when they are off on their break as well.

I gave tonight's cocktail 5 shots out of 5.

Oh......my........goodness this cocktail is amazing!!

What a nice change compared to the "not so good" cocktails I've had lately.

I am going to have to go out and buy a real bottle of this vodka and some more eggnog so that I can make more of these.

The pineapple flavor in the vodka and the cream of coconut add SUCH a nice twist to this eggnog cocktail.

Who'd have ever thought of this combo?  Someone very smart I must say!  I found tonight's cocktail recipe at barnonedrinks.

Here is a photo of the end result:

Coco Snowball

Day 286

Coco Snowball
4 shots out of 5

Yes another blue cocktail!

Not as dark as others I've made, but blue non the less.

Today I had breakfast with my youngest and our dear friend Stephanie and her youngest.

Everything was great.....except for this odd moving scarecrow that was on the booth we were sitting at.

It's nose......was........well, big, long and very very odd looking.  I had to turn it away from us and unplug it as my daughter was getting a little too freaked out because of it.

Besides that, we had a great time!

I gave tonight's cocktail 4 shots out of 5.

I must say I sucked that thing down pretty darn fast.

I thought it would have more of a coconut taste to it I'll admit.

I was able to taste the coconut from both the rum and cream, as well as the vanilla vodka flavor.  All three of those ingredients were accounted for.......I just wish that one of them had a little bit more of a presence then the others.

I found this cocktail on Pinterest and followed it to a blog that led me to another site, wedding blog by the breakers.

I didn't have the coconut shavings that they used to rim their martini glass, and wasn't quite sure about the "Coco Lopez" they used.

I searched for it online and found cream of coconut, as well as coconut juice and coconut milk........so I'm not even sure if I'm using the exact ingredients they used.

Since I had cream of coconut on hand, that's what I used.

Here is a photo of the end result:

coco snowball, christmas cocktail, blue christmas cocktail, vanilla vodka, coconut rum, Malibu rum, cream of coconut, blue curacao

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

coco snowball, christmas cocktail, blue christmas cocktail, vanilla vodka, coconut rum, Malibu rum, cream of coconut, blue curacao

Here is the recipe for a Coco Snowball:

  • 1 oz vanilla vodka
  • 1 oz coconut rum
  • 1 oz cream of coconut
  • 1/8 oz blue curacao

Rim a martini glass with blue sparkly sugar sprinkles........only if you want.  In a shaker, add ice and all of the ingredients above.  Shake and strain your cocktail into your rimmed martini glass.

Here's to blue cocktails and coconut flavors in them.  I enjoy drinking both.

Cheers!!
