TMNT Leonardo

TMNT
Leonardo

It's Day 3 of my Ninja Turtles cocktails!

The kids are back in school today after the nice long holiday weekend, which means it's time to clean up all of the stuff that I can't clean while they're here.

Actually 3 of the kids are back in school because........our oldest.......is out of school and officially a senior!  What?  Who said that?

I stood next to him in the bathroom mirror today......yea I'm short.

The weather has been nice for the past few days here, which I love.  I am SO ready to wear shorts, tank tops and flip flops every day for a while now.

Today I move onto Leonardo as my turtle of the day.

Leonardo is strong, fearless and a great leader.  Thinking of those traits I thought my go to ingredient for this cocktail should be tequila.  At least for me when I drink tequila I think I'm strong, fearless and a great leader!

Don't forget to check out my other turtle cocktails: TMNT Raphael, TMNT Michelangelo, TMNT Donatello as well as my Ninja Turtle cocktail and Hockey Stick.

Here is a photo of the ingredients:

TMNT Michelangelo

TMNT
Michelangelo

TMNT Michelangelo, cocktail

With Alice through the looking glass coming out, we FINALLY saw Alice in Wonderland last night!  Another actor we love is Johnny Depp.

We love him in all of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and more.  He plays the oddest characters and we totally dig him.

Next on our list to watch is the TMNT movie so that we'll be caught up when it's time to watch TMNT2!

That brings me to today's cocktail.

Today I move onto my favorite turtle of them all, Michelangelo.

Is it because of the mutual love we have for pizza?  Is it his over use of Cowabunga, Dude!  Is it because of his simply happy, fun loving nature?  Yes....all of the above!  I think he'd be someone fun to hang out with and have some beers, shots or cocktails with for sure.

Michelangelo is a bubbly, funny, comical dude.

Knowing that I decided to use orange soda to capture his bubbly personality as main ingredient.

Adding some orange whipped vodka and whipped cream vodka, this cocktail will have you surfing down the sewers in no time!

Don't forget to check out my other turtle cocktails: TMNT Raphael, TMNT Leonardo, TMNT Donatello as well as my Ninja Turtle cocktail and Hockey Stick.

TMNT Raphael

TMNT
Raphael

TMNT Raphael

My life has been crazy over the past couple weeks.

It really has.

We had a non-stop week last week which had me going every single day, which was both physically and emotionally draining.  We had some hard times and then a double amazing ending (which was more then needed)!

This weekend added to the emotions as our oldest niece graduated from high school on Saturday!

Her and our oldest son are 2 months apart in age, yet those two months divided them in school years as the cut off was smack dab in the middle of both of their birthdays.

That means we get to be emotional this year as well as next year (Disclaimer: I'm going to be emotional for this ENTIRE year knowing that he will be doing all of his "lasts" this upcoming year).

My husband and I as well as our kids are HUGE Super Hero fans.

We love Marvel and DC both, no discrimination here!

We watch Arrow, Flash, Super Girl, Agent Carter & Legends of Tomorrow.  Arrow was the first show to be aired and we just think Stephen Amell is great.

Which is why when we found out that he is playing Casey Jones in TMNT2 we decided to FINALLY watch TMNT so that when part 2 comes out we can watch it.

In all honesty we never really wanted to watch TMNT.......didn't think it was going to be all that good.  Now we have an excuse to watch it and give it a fair review!

The upcoming movie gave me an idea to make a cocktail for each of the turtles, and Casey Jones of course!

Here is my first installment of the Ninja Turtles cocktail.  I begin with Raphael.  He is a stubborn, angry turtle and with a fire like that I turned to my bottle of Fireball Whisky to create this cocktail.

Don't forget to check out my other turtle cocktails: TMNT Michelangelo, TMNT Leonardo, TMNT Donatello as well as my Ninja Turtle cocktail and Hockey Stick.

Here is my recipe for a TMNT Raphael:

Have you watched the first movie?  What did you think?  Are you going to watch the second one?

I'm looking forward to watching them both.  I grew up watching their cartoon and loved it!

Cheers to the Ninja Turtles!!

Green Tropics

Green Tropics

Green Tropics cocktail recipeGreen Tropics cocktail, coconut rum, malibu rum, pineapple juice, blue curacao, melon liqueur, midori

Monday night my husband and I celebrated (yes we totally went out to dinner and did a toast to it too) my 1000+ Facebook followers!

That was a very exciting milestone for me.

It seems that we are looking for excuses reasons to go out to dinner.....I think it makes (at least me) feel not as guilty for enjoying a night out without all 4 kids.

We have 2 more reasons to celebrate (and are currently figuring out where we are going to go) with a night out which are: 2000+ Pinterest followers and 100+ (not huge, but huge for me!) Instagram followers.  Needless to say, I'm excited!

Tonight is an overdue night out with some good friends.

I have been looking forward to this for about a week now!

We are going to have some good food, good beers, lots of laughs and did I mention that where we are going is walking distance, bonus!!

Today I made a new cocktail and was initially going for a blue one.....but that Midori kept calling my name!  I mean, who am I to deny it being poured into my cocktail?

This cocktail is delicious.

It is a perfect blend of everything in it.

I love it.

This is a total cocktail that you could make a huge batch of for a party and then just stir it up and pour it over ice and serve.

Oh and believe me your guests will approve!

I'm kind of thinking this cocktail is a good excuse to have a BBQ in the summer.....like you need an excuse.......but if you did, this is totally a good one!

Here is my recipe for Green Tropics:

Club W Wine Club

Winc Wine Club

These last few weeks have been non-stop.

Between appointments, baseball games, softball games, tennis matches, school and a million other things that I can't and don't want to name right now (if I name them I'll realize how much I had/have on my plate and start stressing out about them, lol).

We hosted an end of season BBQ for our oldest son's high school varsity team on Saturday.

The boys played their last game that afternoon and then we all celebrated.  What a fun night!

The next day was Mother's Day and I was spoiled and I loved it!!!!  I hope all of you mother's out there had an equally amazing day too.

Who loves a good bottle of wine?

OK, OK, put your hands down.

Have you ever joined a wine club?

I have never joined one before because I was kind of scared of what kinds of wine they would send me.

I am a red wine drinker.  I haven't really had a white wine that I enjoy thoroughly.....and pink wines.........well they scare me.

I was contacted by Winc and was asked if I would like to become an affiliate for them.

I had a great conversation with them and they explained their wine club and why it's DIFFERENT and AWESOME!

Here is a breakdown of what we discussed:

     About the company:
  • Winc is a monthly wine club
  • The monthly minimum to purchase is 3 bottles, but you can definitely get more
  • Winc gets grapes from wineries around the world
  • They cut out the middle man by purchasing the grapes and turning them into juice on site at the wineries.  They then ship that juice to their facilities in CA to bottle.  That way they can give us higher priced wines and a lower cost
     About the club experience:
  • New members will complete a Palate Profile, which is only 6 questions to help Winc pair you up with wines they think you will like
  • NO sign up fee, cancel anytime
  • Once you receive your wine and try it, you then get to rate it (yes! just like Netflix), that way their recommendations will be even better for your palate
  • When choosing the wines you would like (yes YOU get to choose.....no more crossing your fingers and hoping that the wines they send are ones you will like) you can decide to take Winc's recommendations or not, it's completely up to you
  • Each bottle of wine has tasting notes and a video to watch and learn more about it
  • Each bottle of wine you receive comes with a pairing card
  • If you are not satisfied with a bottle of wine that Winc recommends to you, they'll  give you credit for that bottle towards your next shipment
  • You can skip a month anytime
  • Bottles start at $13 each, thanks to Winc doing their own bottling etc., that $13 would have cost you anywhere from $30-$50

If you love wine, Winc is a great club to join!  Here is what my box of wine looked like when I received it:

The bottles were well protected.

Perfect fit so that they don't slide around.

Inside the box also came my pairing cards.  I received one for each bottle of wine I ordered.

I decided to get 2 bottles from my palate profile and then I watched some of the videos on different red wines and found 2 others that I wanted to try as well.

I think it is really neat that you get to choose wine from all different wineries instead of only being able to choose from one winery.

One of my bottles is from Italy!  How cool is that!!  We have tried one of the two bottles that was recommended so far and it was good.  My husband and I both enjoyed it!

If you are in the market to join a wine club or want to give a wine club membership to someone, I highly recommend you check out Winc!

You can click on the banner on the right side of my page to get $20 off your first order!  If you are using a mobile device and can not see the banner, you can CLICK HERE.

Kuli Kuli and Moringa

Kuli Kuli and Moringa

(I was sent a free product to review in exchange for my honest opinion.  All views in this post are mine and I was not compensated for them in any way.)

I was contacted by Kuli Kuli and asked if I would like to sample their Moringa powder and liquid supplements as they had made some margaritas with their coconut lime liquid supplement at a show and it was a huge hit!

I received a few packets of the powder and these 3 fun flavors of the liquids.  First I decided to make a Moringa Margarita with their Moringa powder.

I will admit, green powder kinda scares me.  There I said it.  It's true.  I whipped up a margarita recipe I was provided by Kuli Kuli and put in the powder.  Shook it up and strained it into my margarita glass.

The green color from the powder definitely takes over the color of the margarita.

For me personally, I am not a huge fan of the powder.  That being said, I don't think you should write it off because I didn't really like it.  I know a lot of people who love having their veggie drinks and I have a feeling this powder would be great for them.  Here is a little info. on the powder directly from their site:

"Kuli Kuli provides the highest quality most nutritious moringa available. Our moringa is rich in iron, calcium, vitamins, and antioxidants. A complete plant protein, our moringa contains all 9 essential amino acids."

Next I moved onto their coconut lime Moringa liquid.  I decided to create something on my own this time and see how it went.  I chose rum as my alcohol and mixed it with pineapple juice, cranberry juice and some of the Moringa coconut lime.

Now we're talk'n.  I liked the flavored liquid a lot better.  Sure I could still taste a bit of the plain Moringa in there, but it did not bother me at all and I finished the whole thing!

I would say, if you are looking for a healthier alternative to your cocktails one of these products by Kuli Kuli might be your answer.  Here is a link to their site where you can read more about their story and even purchase some of their products!

I hope you all have a great day!

Cheers!
